StoPPeRmobile: The My Little Pony Killer: StoPPeRmobile: SpectroBoy: PrivateCaboose: RodneyToady: Easy solution: stop being Catholic.  An amazing number of us have.

Easier solution: be catholic and have protected premarital sex. An amazing number of us have.

If you are having sex outside of wedlock you are not a good catholic. Sorry to break it to you. the church is pretty clear on this point.

Catholicism defines chastity as the virtue that moderates the sexual appetite. Unmarried Catholics express chastity through. Sexual intercourse within marriage is considered chaste when it retains the twofold significance of union and procreation.

The pope(s) have spoken explicitly on this multiples times.

Or do you pick and choose which rules you follow?

Believing in the Nicene creed makes you a Catholic, not the hand waving the Pope does.

So you DO pick and choose the rules you follow.

I don't think so. I don't remember ever picking the rule not to kick pregnant woman, yet I have managed to make it this long, without kicking a pregnant woman.

Ah, the mental gymnastics.

Don't want free birth control?  Don't use it.  You have no right to use your religion to force your beliefs onto other people.  So kindly go fark yourself without a condom.

"A Missouri Republican has asked a federal court to exempt his family from contraception coverage through the state insurance plan, explaining that he doesn't want his three daughters to have access to no-cost birth control because it violates his Catholic faith. "

That's nice, now what do his daughters believe?

Those evil slut daughters should be forced to carry his incest rape baby to term!

Well it IS the south. He is a bit too concerned about his daughters' reproduction if you ask me.

Seriously, if he's such a good catholic, wouldn't it stand to reason that his daughters are also good Catholics and that they wouldn't use birth control anyway?

Then again, the birth rate is really low in Italy and that's a whole country full of lusty Catholics. So I'm guessing plenty of "good" Catholics are using birth control.

They really think the Plan B pill causes abortions even though its basically a high dose birth control pill. If you are already pregnant, it won't make you unpregnant.

I was trying to remember where Imperial, MO was, I knew I'd driven past the town in the past.  Checks Google Maps.. oh, just south of St. Louis County.  Might even be a local phone call for me.

Not much there.. a state park nearby.

Hmmm...so the hypothesis is that denying his daughters access to birth control will prevent them from having sex before marriage.

There's an awful lotta grandparents who tried that route...ask them how well it worked.

As for 'not paying it cause I don't approve/am not going to use it'...how many people don't have kids...but still pay property taxes to help support public schools (or other services they may not use)?
Sheesh...

FTA: "In July I got a letter saying that opting out was no longer an option for me, and it really kind of upset me because I'm a devout Catholic,"

Umm, here is a thought.  You can opt out still by not using birth control.  Seriously, no where does this say that your daughters have to use birth control.  It just gives them the option.  Now if they are not as devout a Catholic as you and want to use it, it's their choice.  You can also see this as a test of their faith.  If they are really faithful to the Catholic religion, this type of "temptation" will not even faze their belief.  So let them have the choice.  It will separate the "real" Catholics from the Catholic-lites.
