Have they not taken an animal to the vet before? Those farkers are ripoffs. I'd much rather take my dog to urgent care. More and more they are treating your animal like a car which they won't touch unless they can verify the normal maintenance (wellness visits) is maintained. If you go in for an emergency, they'll charge you for all services you missed and roll it into the emergency.

I mean really, I brought my dog in for an xray of his knee because of an injury. He isn't here to make sure he is well. We know he isn't. Fix his damn knee and stop pushing this feel good crap on me. Petting my dog is not giving him an exam. Making him get on the scale isn't worth an added $50 fee.

If that care is good enough for me, it's good enough for my dog.

Yeah I hate vets. I love my dog though so what are you going to do?

As of a few years ago and as far as I know now, vets could prescribe anything for their immediate family. And not the horse variant.
Kept me in pain meds for several years. Tylenol 4, hydrocodone and percocet.

Trick question. Didn't tell us what time Train B left the station.

2013-08-15 06:25:31 PM
In TFA it is very unclear how the man got the medicine.

a) Police Sgt. Susan West said Thursday the man went to the vet with a foot ailment, and the vet gave him ointment. The problem got worse and he went to a hospital.

b) Freemyer told The Associated Press on Thursday he was treating a dog for skin cancer, and a woman who owned the dog took some of the medicine home and gave it to a neighbor without his knowledge.

I can't imagine a vet risking his license that way. I'll randomly guess that it was a steroid ointment which might be used for canine skin cancer but would be very contraindicated if the man had an infection. <I am not a vet>

For those who have a problem with a vet, you're doing it wrong. You either have a bad vet, one whose bedside manner doesn't click with you, or you have a poor attitude. For the first two reasons, find another vet. For the third, you might want to reconsider owning animals in the 21st century.

I have been incredibly lucky to have a wonderful GP vet. He helped me take care of my Beaglish Girl from the day after I brought her home at eight weeks until I had to release her from this life two months ago when she was just a few weeks shy of 17 years old. We were partners in making sure she was as good as she could get. She had many health issues over the course of her life, including cancer. From him and others we sometimes saw (specialists), she got far better, and far more caring, medical care than I ever did. Sure it wasn't always financially easy.  I had to go without to afford it, but she was worth more than fancy meals, nice clothes, vacations, movies, etc. I seriously didn't mind a bit since she was worth every single cent.

I felt it was my moral responsibility to do the absolute best for her that I could, and with my vet's help, that I did, for her entire life.

Damn I miss her immensely :'('''

I'm aware some vets out there aren't above practicing old-school medicine, and there's a way to do it right, but there's also ways to do it insanely wrong and risk being outed by someone. Disciplinary boards exist for a reason.
