I usually don't give up on the Chargers until late October, good to have that out of the way in August this year.

Shockey Brown with the electric hit.

Anyone know what Marty Shatzinheimer was talking about when he says "it was the biggest mistake in football" in the Football Life commercials?

Was it his incredibly boring play style?  Watching the Reeves-Schotenheimer run it up the middle 3 times and punt chess matches almost put me off football.

Jeebus, Bear's Bostic just about decapitated a dude.

Lou Cypher: Jeebus, Bear's Bostic just about decapitated a dude.

Just watched the replay, expecting another one of those "shoulder forward hits" where the 1 time it works, you get the highlight for the hit, but the other 6 times you watch the guy try it and the offensive guy just bounces of of him.

But no, not only did Bostic clock the guy, he also wrapped him up with his arms. Nice.

bentleypm: I keep hearing rumors about Arizona having a franchise, too.  Weird.

Then Arizona is one up on Oakland where they don't even rumor about having a team.

/Vick settled who's going to be the starter versus the Redskins on opening day.  Of course any other week past that, it's anybody's guess who that starter might be with Vick back on the DL.

simplicimus: Tom_Slick: cameroncrazy1984: Mangoose: Buffalo still has a team? Did they get it back after losing it to another town or have they had it this whole time?

Buffalo averaged 65,000 fans with a 6-10 team in 2012. I'd say we still have a team. Unlike Tampa or Miami, who consistently rank lower despite better weather.

How many games a year do they play in Canada?

Buffalo is practically in Canada.

New York is practically in New Jersey.  San Diego is almost in Mexico.  Portland is almost in Washington.  Kansas City is almost in Kansas.

Your point?

I actually had the sound on last night while I watched a game (first time in a while) and,,,I mean....wow, does Bernie Kosar always sound like that?

Pretty much.  He should be the poster boy for PCS...but I don't think he's part of the concussion lawsuit...

/Haven't seen the TV broadcast...did he offend Peter King's delicate sensibilities?

I don't know about Peter King, but...well, at first, I thought he was drunk or something.

Then, as the game went on, it became clear he was still thinking fine, just something in the wiring between the cognitive center and the motor control of the mouth center just stopped working. And, apparently, the power divered to get the mouth moving again came from the decision making center and knowing when to shut the fark up center.

He's not drunk, but he is on pain medication that can slur his speech.
And I'm guessing you didn't hear him discussing Kellen Clemens last week. He was brutally honest in his assessment of Clemens abilities. Jeff Fisher was NOT happy.
Video of the relevant part.
Ending about how you'd think.

Canada is a mile long bridge away from Buffalo. New Jersey is considerable further from New York (unless your starting point is Staten Island). Portland to Seattle is kind of a hike. I forget how far San Diego is from Tijuana (60 or so miles?). Part of Kansas City is in Kansas.
It was a joke.

What about the Hudson River?

San Diego shares a border with Tijuana.  They are about 0 feet apart.

Oh, and I didn't say Portland to Seattle.  I said Portland to Washington.  It's across the Columbia River.

If you live in Queens or Brooklyn,by subway you have to get to lower Manhattan and take the PATH to the nearest location in Jersey (Haven't lived in NYC for a long time, so I don't know where the PATH stops now. By car, you can take a bridge. Either way, it may not be a great distance, but timewise it is.

I'm sure there have been worse. I could get to Shea in a half hour. Don't think I could do the same for East Rutherford.

I'm referring to the fact that you guys are having this argument.  What the hell is the point, anyway?

The point has been lost in the mists of time. There was a question about how often Buffalo played in Canada, and I made a little joke that Buffalo is practically in Canada, being a mile away.
