Buffalo still has a team? Did they get it back after losing it to another town or have they had it this whole time?

Buffalo has to stay. New York deserves at least one team. After all. Jersey has 2.

Mangoose: Buffalo still has a team? Did they get it back after losing it to another town or have they had it this whole time?

Buffalo averaged 65,000 fans with a 6-10 team in 2012. I'd say we still have a team. Unlike Tampa or Miami, who consistently rank lower despite better weather.

If by "stuck with Vick" you mean "forced to keep him under contract as a Physically Unable to Perform player who forgot he's no longer a 25-year-old physical marvel whose speed and strength enabled him to overcome his lack of actual football talent and tried to make a move in week one that got him Malachi Crunched by two 350-pound defensive tackles and who now tells his brother Marcus to shut up through a series of complicated blinks and grunts," then, yes.

Hey...don't pick on Bills fans. We try year in and year out to hate them, but when August rolls around the undying flame of hope sparks up again. It's genetic and environmental (Bocce's Pizza and Duff's Wings during pregnancy makes the baby come out singing 'Shout')

I hate having Vick on that team, I still can't believe Reid picked him up back then. He was a terrible rated QB before he had his years away, people mock Tebow's skills but Vick as a passer is similar in talent. I can't wait til they are finally done with this Vick/Foles crap and can rebuild and somehow recover in 5 years.

So, basically for Browns fans, play the old second year quarterback because there ain't going to be much winning this year. So, we'll have to look forward to the important things, like

- Trent Richardson's first injury during the season: Over/Under 1 game.
- Next suspension for violations of the drug policy: Over/Under 4 games.
- Owner turning over team to father so Owner can deal with legal issues: Over/under 8 games.

Its not a bad theory (as much as it pains me to admit this)  Expanding the fan base is a good idea.  The problem is that they are trying to do it with a team that has spent more consecutive years out of the playoffs then Duke Nukem forever spent in development.

Generally winning teams will get more fans interested.

Jags averaged over 64k a game last year (21st in NFL) on a 2-14 season and we still catch shiat about not supporting the team. Hell, most of the teams with lower attendance have a larger population.

Ryan on Sanchez: Hey, fans, don't boo him even when he sucks.
Ryan on Smith: It's just 'brutal' watching him even practice.

I agree that Smith probably isn't going to be all that, but Ryan's devotion to Sanchez is truly bizzare.  He does know that his job is on the line this year, right?

He will be lucky if he leaves New Jersey before 'Leave the Rex.  Take the cannoli.' is uttered.

there's a lot of tourism and travel between buffalo/rochester and toronto.

the bigger problem really is, the people in toronto that like football already were watching the bills and going to games. Its less than a  2 hour drive. Heck, if someone in buffalo wanted to see the giants play, its a 6+ hour drive

TheManofPA

Foles would at least be a workmanlike QB that is a good pocket passer. He was not that bad last year, and the Eagles have some serious problems on defense. Vick could have been great, I don't think his passing mechanics are anywhere near as flawed as Tebow's, but he is a head case.

tampaflacouple: I hear the Tampa Bay Bandits ( USFL ) are making a come back... YAY Pro football in Tampa again.

Tampa Bay shouldn't have a bad team...the Muscle Hamster with a decent O-line is more than some(cough Jacksonville cough) teams have. The Freeman is just not very consistent. Not bad, not great either. In addition, the D should be solid as heck. I liken them a bit to the 2009 Jets. They could just surprise people.

FlippityFlap: Vick could have been great, I don't think his passing mechanics are anywhere near as flawed as Tebow's, but he is a head case.

You'd be a headcase too when your O-line is essentially high fiving opposing linebackers on their way to sack you.

Full disclosure; I went to VT with Vick, so I'll always cut him more slack that most. But he is far from the worst QB that'll be starting this year in the NFL.

2013-08-15 06:59:59 PM
You ain't the only non-Foles rootin' for Foles, SilentStrider.

I have zero skin in the Eagles as a franchise. Mike Vick is, on the inside, a deplorable piece of walking filth. Yea, you 'paid your debt to society' my lily white ass. I only wish I could watch you repay the debt you owe to them, torturer.

AND, as a bonus, Foles is actually a decent drop-back passer, by the look of it, and I like that.

Just watched the replay, expecting another one of those "shoulder forward hits" where the 1 time it works, you get the highlight for the hit, but the other 6 times you watch the guy try it and the offensive guy just bounces of of him.

But no, not only did Bostic clock the guy, he also wrapped him up with his arms. Nice.

Then Arizona is one up on Oakland where they don't even rumor about having a team.

I don't know about Peter King, but...well, at first, I thought he was drunk or something.

Then, as the game went on, it became clear he was still thinking fine, just something in the wiring between the cognitive center and the motor control of the mouth center just stopped working. He's not drunk, but he is on pain medication that can slur his speech.
And I'm guessing you didn't hear him discussing Kellen Clemens last week. He was brutally honest in his assessment of Clemens abilities. Jeff Fisher was NOT happy.

Canada is a mile long bridge away from Buffalo. New Jersey is considerable further from New York (unless your starting point is Staten Island). Portland to Seattle is kind of a hike. I forget how far San Diego is from Tijuana (60 or so miles?). Part of Kansas City is in Kansas.

The point has been lost in the mists of time. There was a question about how often Buffalo played in Canada, and I made a little joke that Buffalo is practically in Canada, being a mile away.
