"In all, Steel Reserve, Colt 45, Bud Ice, and another malt liquor, King Cobra, account for only 2.4 percent of the U.S. beer market, but accounted for 46 percent of the beer consumed by E.R. patients."

Budweiser gets along on volume, but these, these my friends, are FIGHTIN' BEERS!

Higher-alcohol malt liquor, for example, is heavily advertised in African-American neighborhoods.

Alcohol is generally accompanied with more crime, domestic abuse, unwanted pregnancies, and general stupidity.

Budweiser just happens to be the brand that get past people's self-control by masquerading as water.

Didn't they trot out some slogan a year or two back, something like "Let's go!" (do something requiring physical coordination while hammered). Makes sense now.

I'm not against cheap beer, but Bud reminds me of swill I drank when I didn't know any better and was underage.

How a full grown adult can drink that stuff is beyond me.  Maybe to pair with an Oscar Meyer Bologna sandwich or Swanson TV dinner.

Indeed, they really want people to forget than Anheuser-Busch was bought out by the giant Belgian beverage conglomerate InBev to preserve their pseudo patriotic image. But yeah the accidents occurred here and the beer was likely US brewed but the money is flowing out.

So most ER patients got there for being stupid, e.i., drinking budweiser?

And if we were in Russia, the leading cause would be vodka.

The UK, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, and most of the rest of Europe?  Probably also beer.  Hell, that probably holds true for Japan and China, too.

Mexico?  Tequila and flatulence.

France?  It's a tie between spraining ankles running away and wine.

Some products are marketed to certain groups of people in our society," explained Traci Toomey, the director of the University of Minnesota's alcohol epidemiology program, who was not involved in the study. Higher-alcohol malt liquor, for example, is heavily advertised in African-American neighborhoods. "So we might want to put some controls on certain products groups of people if we find they are tied to greater risk.

Many people who end their Friday or Saturday nights in a hospital emergency room have been drinking alcohol. In fact, public health experts estimate that about one-third of all injury-related ER visits involved alcohol consumption.

Raises hand...
Mine was Sierra Nevada Torpedo. 11 stitches on my head from whacking a low bridge in some whitewater. NEVAR AGAIN will I drink IPA's on the river.
Stick to pilsners.
Yes, we went straight to the store after I got stitched up, and we got more beer.

Think Budweiser, when you need to injure yourself or others fast. Budweiser cures what ails, when your Smith and Wesson feelings might say too much, too loudly. Budweiser is number one among ER workers across the U.S., you don't have to take their word, drink a rack of Bud and you'll see the stars come out. Bud.

Lets stop being idiots and locking people up for non violent crimes....our prison system is a bloated waste of money as it is.

Quite the reverse is true of Château Chunder, which is an appellation contrôlée, specially grown for those keen on regurgitation; a fine wine which really opens up the sluices at both ends.

Yeah, but that raft was short range (a little fun, but not enough), that slide was constructed. :)

But then the survey takers, with the permission of the emergency room staff, donned white coats.

Tenga: Where did marijuana appear on the list?

If it appeared at all, it was at the bottom.

Now if you asked how many times the marijuana stick was responsible for a negro jazz musician raping a white woman, the answer would be "every single time it was consumed".

2013-08-15 02:04:56 PM
Though Budweiser has 9.1 percent of the national beer market, it represented 15 percent of the of the E.R. "market." The disparity was even more pronounced for Steel Reserve. It has only .8 percent of the market nationally, but accounted for 14.7 percent of the E.R. market.

Well, no shiat: $1.25 for 24oz, and it's 8.1% ABV (nearly 2oz of pure alcohol).

Researcher: they said this study couldn't be done, but we showed it could. It's not statistically valid though-- too small and homogenous of a population-- so don't draw any conclusions.

Reporters: BUDWEISER KILLS! EVERYBODY PANIC!

/budweiser's swill, tho, no more testing needed.

No no no. Pot doesn't make Negros rape white women; it makes white women want to have sex with Negros. That is its insidiousness.

/also, I had no idea "Negro" is supposed to be capitalized

Bud isn't that bad. I will drink it if there's no good beer options available. I don't drink Bud Lite on general principles though.

But anyways, this isn't exactly shocking. Stupid people tend to buy cheap, shiatty alcohol because stupid people are poor and/or have shiatty taste.

If they expand this survey, my guess is things like NattyLite which is very popular with the college kids, and Busch or Old Milwaukee will find their way up to the top over Bud.
