What does the motorcycle have to do with it? That's like normal highway speed.

On Grand Ave.

Douche. If you want to get anywhere fast, you don't take Grand with its 6-way stop lights.

2013-08-14 09:30:02 PM
Chasing after people doing 100 mph just doubles the number of cars doing 100 mph....

There's also that bit about getting pulled over and asking the cop "How fast did you have to go to catch up?"

Considering the fact that he was willing I ignore all these other laws, I don't think a lack of a license will bother him all that much.

114 is really not that fast. you can do that on a civic hybrid.

Unlikely. If I rode a motorcycle I'd kill myself long before I hit that speed.

That was my thought. On Sunday I did 110 (for a short time, I was passing a couple of big rigs and wanted to put a little distance between us) driving north on I35. In a Honda Pilot.

Well, let's see. Do you want to hear about the dipshiat I saw doing wheelies in heavy traffic on the interstate last week, the asswipe who rides behind my house with his bullshiat strait pipes or the guy I almost hit a while back because he decide it would be BRILLIANT to ride in the passing lane in my blind spot?

Fark motorcyclists. The only good one is a dead one.

Why yes, I still hold bittnerness from working in the retail motorcycle industry.

114 isn't very impressive on a decent motorcycle.  I wandered up into that range by accident a few times on my old Trophy and that's a big ol' sport touring bike.

We had one of those here in Milwaukee about a mile South of me on KK two years ago. 100+ mph on a city street. Wasn't wearing a helmet. Blew through a red light at the Clement intersection, t-boned the car that had the right-of-way and died instantly. Luckily the people in the car weren't injured too badly.

I was mostly parodying the normal dark response. Although I do have a couple of stories involving motorcycles weaving in and out of traffic(including into the emergency lanes to get ahead in traffic. While I don't wish them death, a bit of road rash might be in order.

To be fair, Deal's Gap can take anybody unawares.  Particularly if an 18 wheel truck comes at you taking up both lanes.

Meh, I get waves from old dudes driving beat up old Chevy trucks when I drive my beat up old 1982 C10. Even though I'm not a die hard Chevy fan (I've owned nearly 30 vehicles in my short life and liked them all except the Chrysler products), I wave back not out of brand loyalty but out of common courtesy.

But, I'll be sure to throw you the finger if I pass you, since you seem to prefer animosity to courtesy. It's the least I could do.

Even driving a car I wave to my neighbors when I'm close to home and I wave to other drivers when I'm out on some dirt road that doesn't see a lot of traffic too.

What's wrong with acknowledging a common connection, even if it is minor?

I find it hard to imagine why anyone would find it annoying that some people are choosing to foster a little more brotherhood in the world, even if it is for a seemingly trivial reason.

114 is not all that fast on a bike.

I've been 142mph as a passenger on a Kawasaki ZX-10.  Straight section of the Autobahn for about 15 secs before cutting it back to around 90mph.  Passed cars like they were parked, any slight shifting of my or the driver's weight would result in an immediate lane changes.  Unbelieveable amount of suction (and wind noise) developed between my helmet and the driver's causing me to smack my helmet pretty hard into the back of his.  Concluded with a 90 mph exit onto an off ramp which bottomed out his bike, nearly dumping us. I could barely get off the bike without my legs collapsing.  I was so terrified. Absolutely would never do something that dumb ever again.  And yes, I owned my own bike at the time- a modest VN-750-- and was just fine topping that out at 85 when riding on the autobahn, and usually only for short durations.

Plus in nice weather you spend a fraction on gas. My husband commutes that way weather permitting.

We are leisure riders. Lots of nice curvy, country roads around here. We have also done a couple PGR rides. And I am sorry, but I just feel sexy when I am wearing black leather chaps.
