Yes, I thought the same thing.  Not sure I'm going to be trying it in the parking lot if I get in a scrap at the bar though.

You're right, I mean, he'll completely miss the other guy, but in his head it'll be bad-ass.

I really hate the various schisming of fighting schools.

This may have been a Kyokushin Karate match in  Klaipėda Lithuania where the rules say you can't punch someone in the head but it is ok to kick them.

Had the YouTube source been linked we might definitely know this, and whether the woman who got kicked was badly injured or subsequently decided to quit a sport where she receives kicks to the head.

Those Lithuanian girls really knock me out

It looks like Kyokushin Karate with the short punches and low kicks. Don't they teach blocking, though?

That's a winning strategy. Like stopping bullets with your chest.

It's the kind of thing that I would watch in a movie, turn to my wife and say "Nobody does that in real life, or if they do, they totally fark it up, and it isn't effective at all. What a joke!"

Anyone know if it was a legal move? Is the red flag a point or a penalty?

It looked pretty clearly like she didn't knock the opponent out, so much as nail her nose and teeth with the heel of her foot. So the girl had a choice when it connected between falling backward to reduce the impact, or standing her ground and getting disfigured.

Didn't see that coming. 99% of the video was sissy fights and then 1% of "Oh, she really does know what she's doing".

Did she even mean to do that?

It reminds me of some of the stuff that happens when I play video games.

Well, I got through that level - I'm not sure how, but I did.

I don't think there was a lot of choice involved in falling to the ground like a sack of potatoes.  (And staying down)

Was it Spanish? I had the sound really low and it said "South American" so I just picked Brazil at random. Should I have researched my joke better?

It was Bolivia, I am only assuming they were speaking Spanish in the video.  I suppose it could have been Quechua or something.

damn, those bolivian housewives... you know i read an article about it in nat'l geo years ago. but in the article it said they were wrestlers. well, their def. of "wrestling" sure as heck ain't mine... some of those women got full-on, body weight behind it, thumps right into their kissers.

multiple times.

and kept on slugging back.

good for them!

also it's interesting how their clothing has meaning behind it... the sashes, bright skirts, stockings....

This is Kyokushin or a Kyokushin spin-off.  For those talking about blocking, yes fighters should keep their hands up.  However, there are angles that are very hard to read, and that technique, while fancy, capitalizes on one of those angles.  It is actually a fairly popular technique for some Kyokushin fighters, usually the better ones.
