robsul82: SenorBenedict: robsul82: SenorBenedict: robsul82: The job would fall to Mallett before Tebow, so I'd be real worried crossing the street right now if I were him, lol.

I swear he got hurt in their preseason opener? Did he recover?

He returned to full practice on Monday.

Damn it, now I have to hope the bills have a competent team this year. Thanks rob, you just crushed my god damn dreams again. Well you and the bills, but mainly you.

There's still 7 hours and 19 minutes left for Tim Tebow's magic QB1-path-clearing birthday surprise!

Anyone have Tanya Harding's trailer number? I need to help god out.

So no actual argument other than "Y'all complain?" I mean the niners are without Crabtree someone who contributed directly to their offense last year. The Hawks are down Harvin, someone who wasn't even on the team last year. I'd say putting one over the other is a bit of homerism.

yeah....i guess his shoutout to Ryan Swope, while heartfelt, is kinda gratuitous....Swope fell to like, the 5th or 6th round this year because, surprise surprise, teams were concerned about his concussion history.  even in minicamp he was held out of a few OTAs because he wasn't feelin ggreat.  and he missed a few practices in actual training camp due to, wait for it, concussion-related symptoms.  so a 6th rounder retired.   guess it is news and the kid seems nice (i think he said he was hoping to get into grad school to be a doctor, post-retirement) so he's not your typical knucklehead, but.......i don't know why he's in a power rankings column.

it isn't like a former heisman trophy nominee is turning heads and garnering attention from Deion Sanders or anything. no names mentioned, Tyrann Matheieu.

Titans are the best bad team in the league and are going to beat the Dallas Cowboys in the super bowl on a last-second Chris Johnson touchdown (Dallas will luck their way in against the Eagles after RG3 goes down again and the Giants suffer superbowl-host-curse)

well that's my fantasy prediction anyways...

rickythepenguin: I've read on a couple of media outlets where camp visitors are quietly saying the Redbirds are intriguing.  Gil Brandt (who? oh, nobody) was quoted in i think Peter King about how impressed he was with the camp.  you never know.

the in-conference sked is, duh, gonna be tough.  the OOC sked is not terribly intimidating, but there are some other teams (the south) that can make your piggie squeal.  so 25 doesn't bother me.  i'd rather be here than popping my jersey, flossing a top 10 ranking when, farking hell, camp rosters are still 80 or whatever.  lotta cuts left.

It's so cute how you guys think one meaningless win overrides the results of the season. Though I guess that is pretty much all you get to hang your hat on. Try to actually beat the Falcons this year, so we can see what happens in a game that actually matters.

Though that would actually require the Hawks to win an important game on the road without the opposing QB blowing out his knee...

Lions below the Browns? Really NFL? Do you hate Detroit that much? I mean, I know their not your darling Cowboys, Packers, 49ers, Steelers, Patriots, or any NY team, but puh-leeeze.

Also "power rankings" this early in the year are completely unrealistic. Most of these are based on what the team record was the previous year, their draft picks (which are a crap shoot at best), and free agent acquisitions. In the college game, they do the BCS rankings (the ones that actually matter) a few weeks into the season, and they are more or less accurate.

Like much of Fark, it's all about beating a long dead (pastel colored) horse well past the point anyone normal finds it remotely interesting.

Anyway, like all preseason rankings these are worthless. Let's at least determine who is actually on each team before we worry about arbitrarily ranking them. On paper, there are like 14 Bowl caliber teams (Niners, Hawks, Falcons, Saints, Cowboys, Giants, Packers, Bears, Broncos, Texans, Colts, Ravens, Bengals, Patriots) and about 6 teams in full rebuild mode (Raiders, Chiefs, Jets, Jags, Bills and the Eagles). The rest of the teams are solidly in the about .500 club and could climb into SB contention or drop into Suck for Clowney mode. Broad groupings are about all we can realistically determine right now till, you know, we figure out who's actually going to be on each team.

Those games don't matter! Clearly you need to stop being a seahawks homer and admit when the Niners lose a game its only because they are doing so to save time. Its just like speed running megaman, take some damage to save time.

SenorBenedict: farbekrieg: chefs are way too low, they are shooting up to the middle of the pack

Frankenhead is going to take them to the woodshed this year, they'll finish third place in their own division (behind denver and san diego) they'll probably be lucky to be ahead of the Raiders. Andy Reid and Alex Smith aren't going to suddenly make the Chiefs a real boy I'm sorry.

they already had a decent running game and a stud wr, they just didn't have a qb to get them the ball or a line, and if you want to talk about making a system qb, Andy Reid is definitely your guy.

Defensively they were solid (albeit over rated) but I would not be surprised by a 7-9ish season of the chefs, and the super chargers are going to be disappointing. So 16-20ish, which is way off the number 28 seed they are listed at.

They had a decent running game? I mean come on didn't they only lead like 1 game last year? Not win mind you, but actually lead the game for any period of time. I just don't think the Walrus and a Niner dropping will suddenly make them grow into a real team.

The Chargers got rid of Norm Turner and picked up the best pick of the draft in Manti Teo, they'll chase denver all the way to the finish.

I'm not a Patriot hater, so this isn't gloating, but.....in the event that Brady misses any games due to this injury, would there be any doubt this was the all time wrost NFL off-season? Welker, the Hernandez thing, the vaunted "patriot way" fiction being exposed, and then a possible injury?  Brady's no spring chicken, iether.  this is his 13th season.  he's an old man by NFL standards.  any injury is going to be harder to come back from.

The Saints could win all their games 42-35...could, I wouldn't bet on it but I see the possibility.

The Cowboys perennially underachieve, one year they are actually going to achieve. No reason this couldn't be their year, they have talent. Their defense will be better now that theyre healthy and the offense is Super Bowl caliber.

The Bears and Bengals both have chances to win their divisions and get at least one home playoff game, and if you get that you got a chance. Cinci's defense is legit, Red Rocket will determine how far they go.

As pointed out above no one had the Ravens or Niners going all the way last year. The number of teams who can go on a run and win it all is a lot bigger than you think. Hell I can think of at least two more teams I didn't list that could make a run.

/Pittsburgh and Washington
