Apparently lack of competence impairs your fitness to perform.  Thank you, British Nursing and Midwifery Council, for clearing up that logical progression.

The Flexecutioner: sources heard her mumbling, "Seriously, who has purple blood?"

I'm connecting some dots here, but it's rare to see grape JAM in the USA, the Brits don't have jelly as Americans think of it (they use the word jelly to mean gelatin like Jello brand), so I'm guessing it's probably a red fruit that made the jam.

grape isnt the only purple colored jam either.  i get blackberry jam (my favorite alongside orange marmalade) which is a dark purple color.  when dried around the lips the reddish/purple part of the hue is a little more visable too.  i just used the color purple as a believable example of what someone would mistake it for.

Came here to ask this.

spawn73: Once her 12 month suspension is up she'll probably be more competent.

Generally, a suspension also has a requirement that you enroll in remedial training, and present documentation of such. It also requires you to complete the same educational requirements for Con Ed as if you were practicing, only out of pocket.

Since this woman will neither be getting a paycheck, or able to work in her chosen profession for a year, things are about to get a little rough for her. And rightfully so.

Damn, why is she only suspended and not just booted right out of the profession? My old doctor got booted out of hers for being horrible.

Allegations of Dr.(redacted) professional misconduct have been referred to the Discipline Committee of the College. It is alleged that Dr.(redacted) engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional and failed to maintain the standard of practice of the profession in relation to patients in a number of ways, including but not limited to failing to provide records to the patient or to the College; failing to cooperate with the investigation; failing to respond to the College; failing to appropriately store vaccines; failing to respond to the patient's care concerns; failing to appropriately refer and/or follow up on referrals; failing to maintain appropriate records; behaving rudely to patients and violating patient confidentiality. It is also alleged that Dr.(redacted) is incompetent and/or failed to maintain the standard of practice of the profession in the care of 24 patients. In addition, it is also alleged that Dr.(redacted) engaged in disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional conduct and/or the sexual abuse of two patients, whose identities have been made known to her under separate cover.

Think of it this way: she definitely will not work again for one year. And she has essentially zero chance of working again after that.

Even if they didn't prohibit her outright from working again, I think the end result will be the same. They give her a punishment of one year so as not to appear overly harsh, and the industry takes care of the rest.

Now I want gooseberry jam, and you didn't even mention it. What is up with that?

A few weeks ago at the nursing facility I work at, a fellow STNA and I reported to the nurse that a resident looked like they had a pressure sore forming on their one heel. We reported this at the beginning of the shift. Throughout the shift, we kept asking her if she had looked at it. She kept giving the excuse she had not had time to look at it yet. Yet, she had time to go outside several times and smoke. Near the end of the shift, she finally looked at it. She wrote it off as just "dry skin". The other STNA and I were skeptical. I was off the next day. I came back the day after, and the nurse (not the same one) was giving us a report and let us know the resident (same one) had a stage 2 pressure sore on her heel. We told them about us reporting it to the nurse a few nights back and her response. Sadly, the nurse still works there.

And this is in the US. :(
