(YouTube)   TFer's friend made a movie, but it can't get distribution. Thought you might enjoy a clip of it, anyway. This is the trailer for a movie that will probably never make it to a theater near you: "Trooper"   (youtube.com) divider line 21

It might not look like a Hollywood blockbuster, but a lot of great acting performances in it. Thought I'd share it with you guys

Actually, it doesn't look half bad. Good luck to your friend, distribution is a biatch.

Has your friend ever thought of renting out theater theaters for select screenings and viral marketing to get some more exposure?

There's also kickstarter.

Too many shots of people drinking.  The whole trailer was people drinking.

Yeah, he's considering a Kickstarter for it now.

What about digital distribution?
http://www.movie-discovery.com/
It's a solid site. The film school I work at uses it.
One of the creators of the site teaches at the school, he's a good guy.

How do you survive a day on Fark?

And, subby, what about direct to Netflix?  They seem to have plenty movies on their streaming site that are a hell of a lot worse than that one seems to be.

That's pretty well done for amatuer.

is this some attempt at reverse hollywood marketing where instead of showing you all the good parts to a movie in the trailer and you are disappointed when you get in.. you are shown all the bad parts and are overjoyed when watching the movie?

I thought the same thing.

I would watch the movie if I could.

I'm not sure it's completely amateur - it was written and directed by Chris Martini.  He's the brother of Max Martini, who is probably best known for his role in The Unit.

Sounds like this film just couldn't get distribution and someone else owns the rights to it, so they can't self-release.

Oh, and Chris Martini is a proper professional editor in his own right.

Get it to the Netflix.

My brother John wrote the score and played the bagpipes in this movie. I hope it gets the distribution they're looking for.

Subby. If this thing gets released, make a thread to let us know where.

Thanks
