I'm glad you reminded me that Hard Knocks is on tonight, subbs.

2013-08-13 05:25:18 PM
If they wanted to show what the NFL was like on the inside they'd just show an hour a week of guys injecting horse steroids into their asses, then going to the strip club and waste more money in a night than the average NFL fan makes in a year.

Is he any good anymore? The Steelers cut him but was it strictly a salary cap move?

He didn't rape the right about of women.

FTFA: "I don't feel they deserve to be here. They did nothing to be here, other than want to be here," he said. "They didn't put no blood, sweat and tears into none of this. All these men in here, they did that. They (the cameras) did nothing. No one deserves to see this, to come inside of this unless you're a part of this. That's why."

They're there to film you, it's not like they're asking for a spot on the team or to go party with you FFS.

I've never seen Hard Knocks before. Is there a season that is considered "the best", or really good, or something like that?

I'm almost...impressed with his apparent ignorance of what the show is about and of the desire from fans to see and understand more about the game then simply what transpires every Sunday on national television during the season.

No one would like cameras and extra people milling around the workplace, but Christ, dude.

Exactly. Plus the show is meant to glorify and put in perspective the work these guys put in. Is this anywhere as intimate as 24/7? As far as I understand, 24/7 is more intimate yet I have never known of any of the fighters (I have never watched the hockey edition) be too bothered, other than asking cameras to leave sparring sessions for strategy concerns, so Harrison just comes across as a diva.

James Harrison... he's never been a bright man.

Mayhaps we shouldn't watch on TV or bother to attend the games then either.  After all, we did nothing to deserve to be there.

Um, that's racist?  Or is that a nickname I haven't heard?

I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice.

The NFL will be better off when this headhunting cheap shot artist retires. I would be very happy if no more cameras were pointed in this asshat's direction for the rest of Hard Knocks.

I'd recommend the Jets edition.

2013-08-13 06:10:59 PM
I don't know if the entire season was great, but I remember the first time Hard Knocks covered the Bengals, they showed Carson Palmer complaining to his center that his hygiene is making the top of his hand "smell like a toilet."

As someone who knows people that work behind the camera and in the edit bay in that industry as well, I was waiting for someone to make this comment.

I walk by our edit bays almost daily. It appears soul-killing and the editors are just working with movies and series -- pretty much tidy, packaged stuff.  I can't even begin to imagine going through multiple hours of arbitrary filmed footage just to get to the editing part. And if they show the Falcons-Bengals preseason game I doubt anyone on staff has gotten more than four hours sleep since Friday.

If you didn't want to be a sideshow exhibit, maybe you shouldn't have signed with the Bengals.

I definitely have much respect for our editor friends, but their comfy-chaired climate controlled workstations with access to espresso, takeout and wireless is pretty posh compared to what the people who attain the footage have to go through.

I was going to comment on his quotes and then I read that.  I grew up in a small town where some folks were not racially sensitive and Ive heard Silverback being used to refer to large black athletes.  I doubt the writer meant it as racist but he could have used a better term.

Cletus C.: Is he any good anymore? The Steelers cut him but was it strictly a salary cap move?

No he isn't good anymore. He's a step slower (old) and he is sure to draw fines by refusing to change the way he plays.

What I am surprised by is Cincinnati moved him inside. He's never been great at getting off blocks, even during his DPotY season his strength was leverage and an explosive first step to get past bigger but slower tackles. Now he's going to play inside and try to take on FBs and guards? Not to mention he has no chance to cover anyone. Good luck with that Cincinnati.

Uverse subscribers should call up and ask for 3 months of HBO/Max for free. That promo is pretty much always available, no commitment necessary. Takes 5 minutes. Hell, tech support can do it.

He's lost a couple of steps.  He's becoming more of a support player than the kind of guy you can anchor a defense on.  If you have cap room, he'll be worth it, but not if you're coming close to the cap.

What a dick. "Blood sweat and tears"....settle down there Beavis, you're not flanking machine gun nests. I can't wait until this clown is sitting behind a folding table at an Allentown Wal-Mart, telling fans whatever story they want to hear if they'll just give him $25 for an autograph.

Suppose that depends on how much cap room you have, I think he turned like 6 or 7 million a year from the Steelers because he wanted more. Even if they had cap room he isn't worth that.

IDK how much Cinci is paying him, but if it is anywhere close to what he wanted from Pittsburgh, he isn't worth it even if they have tons of room.

He only got 4.5m from Cinci. He is not a smart man

My big takeaway from last week was the receiver who kept diving for the ball and gave his brainpan a good shake.  Good on that doctor for not letting him walk back on that field.

If he doesn't want to be on the damn show stop giving him so much camera time

Only time we are going to hear his name this season is when some RB is blowing by him on a missed tackle

The bungles were not the team to follow this year just like no one gave a rats ass about the dolphins last year.

Follow the Seahawks or 49ers. Pick a hot team that is mainly unknown.

I think it's racist to think that it's intended as a racist name.  Bristling every time a monkey epithet happens to be directed at a black person implies that you think it might have some truth.

Hell, white people are the hairy ones, with a monkey's pale skin.  Ron Pearlman looks like he should be swinging from a tree in Sumatra.

But by all means, keep fighting for racial justice in the sports tab of Fark.

If James Harrison couldn't tackle...I'm convinced he'd either be dead or in jail for life.

There are screws loose up there...I'm convinced of it.
