The script was by Bret Easton Ellis. "Less than Zero." Tells me all I need to know about THAT.

Bonanza Jellybean: fusillade762: I hope this doesn't hurt James Deen's acting career...

If it does, he at least has Stoya to console him.

Stoya is what I imagine a female human avatar for the herpes virus would look like.

As for Lohan:  STOP GIVING HER MONEY, YOU HOLLYWOOD ASSHOLES!

Seriously, it's time to let her dry up and blow away.

scottydoesntknow: Mugato: the star was recently approached by actor Ben Affleck about starring in his next project.

This has to piss off a lot of legitimate actors out there who aren't junkies with constant immunity.

That's my thing. There are tons of girls out there looking for a shot who could probably act circles around her and not be a farking trainwreck.

Maybe whoever was abusing her when she was doing Disney movies feels like they owe her some work.

The All-Powerful Atheismo: scottydoesntknow: It opened in 1 theater last weekend for $13,000. It expanded to 4 this weekend and took in 17,000.

Which isn't such a dismal failure as tDF would lead you to believe, though it isn't very great to be sure.  The point is, it's not like it only made 30k in wide release, and they don't mention that in the article because the article is a piece of trash.

Theater grosses (even given the low screen count right now) are only part of the picture. Remember, it's also released for on-demand and digital purchase, where it's selling fairly well: "the film topped out at number two on iTunes' indie films chart and fluctuated just outside the top 10 over the course of the weekend." I can't find final numbers for VOD sales, unfortunately.

Anyway, discounting the opening weekend/limited release numbers accordingly, even if it can manage $3K to $4K per screen for a week (or even two), and IFC can roll it out to, say, 200 screens in the biggest markets, it'll do just fine. I'm sure it's being distributed digitally, so distribution costs are pretty low, and they're going cheap on the advertising budget, allowing the press buzz to build awareness. In other words, IFC may net a couple thousand bucks per screen on it, making somewhere on the order of $1-2 million from theatrical showings. That would be crippling for even a relatively cheap $25 million Hollywood flick, but its straight-up profit for a $ 250K project.

Add in the VOD revenues, and this will probably put a decent bit of change in everyone involved's pockets.

The $30 million might be right if it was hardcore.

I watched 5 minutes of it.  It's softcore porn with bad acting.  So basically, it's softcore porn.

It's only open in 1-4 theaters (can't quite tell, box office mojo isn't clear).  30k for one theater isn't that bad.  In fact the 13k per theater average listed on their site for opening weekend beats the 9k per theater average for Elysium, and most box office leaders.

That being said, I'm sure it's a shiatty film.  Also, fark the Daily Fail.

So when a studio intentionally kills a film by putting it on fewer screens than exist in most small towns..... is it really anyone elses fault?

Lindsay Lohan is attractive for a 50 year old, I'll give her that.
