So Angus and McTavish are sitting around in the pub. Angus takes a long pull at his drink, looks out the door and says "Angus, you see that bridge out there."
"Aye Angus, I do"
"S'a goood Bridge. Built it with me bare hands I did. But do they call me angus the bridge builder?"
"No angus they don't" he says sympathetically.
"And ya see that roof on the school. S' a good rooooof, took me a month, with me bare hands." He takes a pull again. "But do they call em Angus the Roof Maker?"
"No angus they don't"
Angus takes another deeeeep pull at his beer, his face going red.

I'm 100% heterosexual.  I've never been sexually attracted to women, and that'll never change.  What I'm curious to know is, what do you mean by "some shade of bisexual?"  Are you proposing that there are people walking around that consider themselves 80% gay or something?

When Kinsey was doing his research he used a scale with seven gradients, from purely heterosexual to purely homosexual, with the midpoint being equally homosexual and heterosexual.  Researchers have found the basic premise valid, though now they recognize additional axes for biological sex and gender identity.

Most people seem to consider themselves entirely straight or gay, and even if they have certain attractions or sexual urges to members of their non-dominant sexual partner preference, they tend to ignore them because of their chosen identity.  I'm just saying that for a lot of people it's a spectrum and not a binary selection.  A woman can be primarily attracted to men, and only have relationships with men, yet still have same-sex attraction to other women, and even if she acts on those attractions, it doesn't automatically make her a lesbian.  The same can go for men, they can be primarily attracted to women and only interested in relationships with women, but have homosexual encounters without suddenly becoming gay.

You can have people with certain limits. For example, you might have a guy who doesn't mind having another guy giving him head, but doesn't enjoy reciprocating so they play with guys who like to bottom. Or you have guys that prefer to do bi play but only when a woman is also involved, like when you have a male top playing with a couple that has a dominant female who enjoys forcing her submissive bi male to service top men. It's all enjoyable for everyone involved because the bottom males enjoy the receiving end of things so the top can be a bit selfish. For a dominant male, it can be a huge turn on to have another man to do things because it gives them a greater sense of power because they are forcing someone physically equal to submit to them.

There's a lot of different ways people get their cranks turned, and so long as it is consensual I say everyone should be allowed to let their freak flag fly.

Finding a guy attractive doesn't make you gay. I'm a gay guy who can admit that that certain women are attractive, but I have no desire to have sex with them. When you start getting the urge to have sexytimes with a guy, THEN you're gay.

As for MMF trios, it depends. Some guys like it because of the thrill of being watched, or competing against another guy to see who make her come more. That's totally straight. If you're in a MMF and you stick your dick in him on purpose (or vice versa), then it's gay (or bi, technically).

I found some interesting discussion about the Kinsey scale on a gay website

the funny thing about the Kinsey scale, and those who keep going on about how "most men are somewhere in the middle", is that I have yet to actually meet anyone who sees themselves as ANYTHING other than a perfect 6.

maybe I've just lived my life in such a way as to surround myself with only 100% gay men and women, but, I have yet to meet any guy (or girl, for that matter) who thought of themselves as "somewhere in the middle".

and a reply

I thought the general thinking was that men who were in the middle might be equally attracted to both sexes, but because of societal pressures, elected to pursue heterosexual relations the vast majority of the time.

But there are numerous problems with Kinsey and the Kinsey scale anyways; I don't think the idea that the majority of the population is bisexual (if that means being more or less attracted to both sexes) holds up to scrutiny, even if actual desires - rather than mere actions - are accounted for. There are probably a great deal of curious men and women, but I hesitate to label that curiosity as bisexuality.

Hey men, when you start flipping out because some other men are bisexual or comfortable with experimenting it makes you look panicky and stupid, like you're scared that if THOSE guys can be attracted to both males and females to varying degrees, then it means you must be too.

Where's all the rage for women who've been with guys and yet had one or two sexual encounters with women? Oh yeah, that doesn't matter because it's hot.

The reasoning seems to be similar to one's race: If one is visibly "black" then one is African-American, no matter how that person feels or wants to self-identify. Barack Obama? Black, notwithstanding he was raised by a white mother and an Indonesian stepfather. Tiger Woods? Black, despite an Asian mother.

Same way, if you've had one homosexual experience, you are gay, at least to certain segments of the population. And especially if you were the receptive partner; even if it never happened again; and even if since then you've been 110% straight, been with multiple opposite-sex partners and had a dozen kids.

Which just goes to show how f*cked-up we are as a society.

When he was on America's Next Top Model, he was more of a walking, talking, human caricature than Miss J. If some sitcom decided to write a character that dressed and acted like Andre Leon Talley does, they'd get a sternly worded letter from GLAAD about the offensiveness of the character.

Interesting headline, since he didn't say he's not gay, he said he rejects the label "gay" and has never been in love with a man.

If you've ever seen Talley talk, he seems just a few hairs shy of a screaming queen. But sexuality is a spectrum, and taking him at his word, he's saying he fall closer to the middle than people might suspect from his manner.
