(American Thinker)   A new trend in DC has emerged as members of both political parties have been compromising on issues in hopes the get things done. Pundits are calling this trend "Democracy" and if it's not stopped they fear it could spread to the rest of the nation   (americanthinker.com) divider line 83

It pretty much fails in the first couple sentences by willfully omitting that both parties have essentially changed places with each other on policies and that the major differences between them any more of exactly how to continue growing the massive government and who pays the best bribes.

Dear f*cking god how I wish we lived under one-party statist rule. Then I could frog-march everyone at American Thinker to a gulag in Montana and beat them mercilessly day and night until their god reclaimed their souls in pity.

But nooooooo. We live in a democracy with "free speech" and major news networks treat their view as equally valid and it's uncouth and "against the Constitution." Pussies.

It means he believes that we are confederation of states loosely bound together only for the purposes of self defense, but otherwise independent of each other.

Did you know that there an actual Congressional argument against the Bill of Rights back when it was being devised and written up after the failure of the Articles of Confederation?

A group of Congressmen feared that if we actually listed a number of Rights in the Constitution that some moron in the future would make the argument that only 'those' rights were intended to be respected by the government.

No I did not. I'm all for periodically expanding the list.  Also, I was led to believe that Congressional disagreements only started in 2010. The more you know.

Well, see that's where you're failing.  The Founding Fathers didn't intend to create the impression that only the rights listed in the Bill of Rights were valid.  In fact, members of Congress from a number of the states at the time thought it would set a bad precedent, enumerating Rights instead of going on the premise that 'all' Rights were valid unless prohibited by law.

My very elderly and now deceased grandmother once pointed out a daguerrotype of one of my great-great-grandfathers, saying he was a hero of 'the Revolutionary War'.  He was dressed in a grey uniform.  I imagine that's the revolution of which Paul is speaking.

How do you know all 535 of them are bad? With an ~80% reelection rate, SOMEONE seems to think they're getting effective representation from their reps - 428 districts, if that 80% number is dead-on.

We need some strategic replacements, after changing campaign-finance rules and getting rid of the gerrymandering (sorry, majority-minority and all-white districts). Do let me know when we're close to that happening, wouldya?
