That's the thing about Gun Rights nuts.  They only give a damn about the 2nd Amendment.  They can't get it through their thick, inbred skulls that we either have ALL of the Bill of Rights, or we have NONE of the Bill of Rights.

Hurray for positive rights!

Once again, we see why the Republican party has such a boner for the (largely symbolic in this day and age) 2nd Amendment. If they pretend to care about it, their dipshiat supporters won't notice them farking with the other Amendments...the rights that actually pose a threat to authority.

Shouldn't you be protesting an abortion clinic somewhere or writing to your politicians to keep sodomy laws on the books or something?

I respect your freedom of speech to build such lying, stupid strawmen, and any other absolute bullshiat you feel like spewing about gun enthusiasts.

That goes for you too, Trolly McSubbtard.

Hell, there's a thread coming up about a man in Cleveland who had his gun taken away by police and he's suing to have his property returned, he may or may not be a felon, he was not charged with a crime. Maybe we can get a little crossover and see which people disregard due process just because there is a gun involved.

And they fail to realize that the 2nd does NOTHING to protect the others. Fighting government tyranny (real or imagined) with force hasn't been realistically possible since at least WWI. The American military's capabilities simply outclass anything a private militia can scrounge up; personal firearms aren't much use against tanks, drones, gunships or jets.

Personal firearms and IEDs can stifle nation building/occupying efforts, yes. But they cannot win a second American Civil War. And yes, if Teabagging dipsh*ts start a Civil War 2.0., the vast majority of military personnel WILL fire on your dumb asses.

Then you'll sign a petition to the Governor of Arizona and your state representatives demanding marriage equality for LBGT citizens of Arizona?  Surely you gun fanatics wouldn't have a problem with freedom and liberty for all, right?

For the ACLU, I think it's a resources issue.  By it's nature, the ACLU has a lot more subjects that fall under it's purview then the NRA, and the NRA has a lot more money and influence.  Since the NRA already is covering that ground, why not focus on the other issues so they don't become neglected?

/Also, as much as I hate to admit it, the ACLU probably avoids it because many of their donors support gun control.  They're not going to bite the hand that feeds them.

I love that there are comments decrying the choice of a jury trial, including a call for the defendants to pay for the privilege.   I bet many of these fools think they are "small government conservatives" and can't realize that the right to a jury trial is one of the fundamental safeguards against "big government", and personally I reserve the right to jury nullification for unjust laws or the unjust application of laws (I guess growing up in the 60s and 70s does that to you).

I don't recall seeing that anywhere in the US Constitution. I hope every single person arrested demands a trial by jury and refuses to be tried as a group. If the state has the resources to arrest them, it has the resources to try them properly.

It's not a 'right' when you're breaking the law by doing whatever it is you're doing.

You have to change the law first... or move.
