After 5 years of the (misspelled) 'reset' button, 'smart' diplomacy and post-election 'flexibility', can anyone point to anything about Obama's foreign policy that's 'new' or 'smart'?  What has all the 'smart' groveling, apologizing and missile-defense scrapping accomplished?

I love this one, from the community organizer:  "I no patience for countries that try to treat gays and lesbians and transgendered persons in ways that intimidate them or are harmful to them".

Wow, I'm sure that's got Putin shaking in his boots.

Hockey is a sport I prefer to watch from the $150 ticket level than anywhere else. It sucks on TV or from higher than the first section of the Arena.

Although, if you have a box I'll come. Even if I have to wear a suit and tie. But I'm not trimming my beard. We're up to Epic and I'm working my way to Reality Show.

I've been to one professional hockey game. St Louis Blues vs Ottawa Senators, 2nd year they were in the league. We left 10 minutes into the third period when it was 9-1 for the Blues. Ended up being 11-1. Vowed I would never go to a game again.

I don't usually rag on Obama's inexperience making him unqualified for the job, and I'm on Snowden's side in this, but McCain would have been a much more effective negotiator in this mess. Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Kennedy, Ike, Truman, FDR would have also been better. Bush I would have been moderately better. LBJ, Ford, well, they'd have stumbled like Obama. Clinton would have had Snowden killed in China and replaced with a body double. W would have tied it in with Boston and be bombing wherever the Joker is from as we speak.

What I really want to know is what is REALLY going on between Russia and the US.  When an insider like Romney holds up Russia as a threat, I don't think of the media spin that the fellow is stuck in the past.  I instead think that Russia has, somehow, pissed off the entities whom truly hold the power in the USA, the corporations.

Did Russia cancel a contract for raw goods?  Did they make an agreement with China and by-pass the corporations as a middle man?  Was it the seizing  of Yukos, the Russian oil company that wasn't paying taxes and had ties to American oil companies? Is it Putin's efforts to fight "The State and the Oligarchs" which warned of a "creeping oligarchical coup" in Russia, and articulated the fear that "the country's system of governance would be changed to ensure 'the union of super-big business and executive power.'" /here

The one thing I am sure of is that it isn't a clash of personalities, it's all about money.

And Obama has us on ignore. Or maybe 'flog'. With him it's difficult to distinguish neglect from antipathy.

Putin has that whole country rigged. His power is an illusion. Popular leaders don't use the crutches Putin limps around on: squashing dissent and opposition, censoring the media, etc. etc. etc. Yet Obama is weak? Give me a break.

The Snowden situation is so farking ironic to me.

Obama, who once said he'd safeguard whistleblowers, would probably call in Seal Team 6 on Snowden if he could get away with it, and Putin, a man who once called in team Pulonium 210 on an intelligence professional who was critical of him, is now giving safe haven to Snowden.

Yup, that's pretty interesting all right albeit farked up.

Between bad mouthing Obama and releasing shirtless pictures of him wrestling bears Das Pootster really has become a new darling of the right.

Russia is basically a dysfunctional mafia state run by a thoroughly corrupt and amoral megalomaniac and I think in their heart of hearts the American RW want their own version of Putin to ruthlessly rule over them.

It makes sense when you realize that Putin is only doing this to troll the US.

That's the only thing this guy is good at...well that and taking homoerotic pictures of himself hunting.
