He'll be a great decoy 4 or 5 times throughout the year. Opposing players know he sucks, but they won't be able to stop themselves from overreacting to everything he does in an effort to be the guy who makes the big hit on him. And he won't get the ball, but the purpose will be served.

I think the coaches tell that to all of the scrubs for preseason games.

So the Patriots might play their third-stringer in a preseason game? WOW THAT'S SO DIFFERENT THAN EVERY OTHER TEAM

Single-wing formations?

Looking forward to seeing what Mallet can do. He's got a lot of talent, wish the Pat's would have traded
him...

Tebow is a terrible QB as a full-time starter, but he is a really effective QB in short-yardage and in the red-zone.  I think Brady is secure enough in his position to allow Tebow to have 7-8 touches a game in these situations.

2013-08-09 05:51:26 PM
WTF is he supposed to tell him, "Look we hired you and the ESPN circus that follows you so you can be on the practice team"

This is going to be Tebow's year. I can tell by the passes, and having seen a lot of quarterbacks in my day.

So he is gonna baptize Brady?

2013-08-09 06:56:34 PM
Ok, I need some help here...

I don't hate Tebus, but I can see that he really is not ever going to be a good NFL quarterback. My cousin; however, seems to think that he will be the next big thing in New England - and he is a life long Jets fan. My cousin is also a church pastor who lives in Florida. I am constantly being barraged by Tebus Facebook updates about how wonderful he is...is this because of him playing at Florida, his loving Jesus or does he really think he is good???? I just am so confused because it is so farking obvious to me that he is, at best, a one trick pony. Why do people still carry on so about him?

Very few players would I wish injury upon, but if Brady went down and The Tebus took over, I'd watch every farking Pats game for the Lulz.

I have a close friend out here who's been following Tebow since his high school days and isn't particularly religious and/or stupid enough to draft him over other much better QBs in his fantasy league(s).  As for what he does see in him, I'm not completely certain, but I know it's not just because he's a jesus freak who knows jack shiat about football.  He's a big fan, but also realistic.

There's no question the most vocal conservative Christians like him because the NOM and the Jesus and furthermore comma like and such as, and ESPN likes to milk the shiat out of him for any possible bit of more attention/ratings they can get, so he does have that sideshow to come along with him.  And his fans will undoubtedly point to Denver's crazy turnaround in 2011 after Captain Neckbeard got run out of town, because all of a sudden they started winning once Teebus started starting (except for getting hosed by New England and being unable to get a touchdown against the Chiefs in week 17, backing into a playoff spot).

Also, sports fanaticism and delusion are directly related to some degree (i.e. DAAAA BEARSSSSS), so yeah.

/Holy fark, I need to get back to work

He's different, for the NFL. Kind of like why Danica Patrick gets so much press despite not being that good at her sport.

Yeah the Seahawks did the same thing with Brady Quinn last night.

You know I hope Wilson doesn't get hurt, because fark sake Tavaris god damn Jackson? farking seriously?

SenorBenedict: Tavaris god damn Jackson? farking seriously?

He's really not that bad - if he'd been healthy two years ago, we go 8-8 or 9-7. I mean, he's not Wilson...but he's a great backup to have and I'm glad we have him instead of Quinn.

Hey, I said he'd be better than JaMarcus Russell back before the draft when people were acting like Russell was good because he shredded Notre Dame's 110th-ranked defense while Quinn struggled against LSU's No. 3 or something like that defense.

2013-08-09 08:27:42 PM
Of course, I didn't think Quinn would be GOOD. Just that he'd be better than JaMarcus. And I was right on that one!

/of course, I also thought Leinart was going to do well in Arizona
//in fairness to me, he was until Denny Green got himself fired with "CROWN THEIR ASS" and they brought in a coach that didn't like Leinart personally AND had a completely different offense that was the antithesis of Leinart's skills as a passer

2013-08-09 08:31:46 PM
Why no football thread?  Should we just use this one?  It is slightly Tebow related.

Nice pass by Vick over the middle on the first series.  Well thrown pass to Jackson on the TD too.  Apparantly Vick wants to win this job.   It's gonna be a... well you know.

2013-08-09 09:00:41 PM
Well, uh, Philly, you might want to try SOMEthing on defense. Giving up 11 yards/carry to the Patriots' rushing attack is not a good sign.

Honestly I'm just sad Flynn left, even more so because he went to the raiders who are going to ruin the poor bastard.

To add to the joy Geno Smith limped off the field. We're a Tom Brady injury away from Sanchez vs Tebow in week #2.

Noooo not Geno! He was going to be my dark horse pick for fantasy when the jets were playing the dolphins or bills. God damn it.

The bible thumper I work with is the same way she keeps on thinking Tebow is the 2nd coming and that its not his fault but the NFL is anti Christian. Yes she said that. She only found out about Tebow in new England last week and was just so depressed about it.

Tim Terribow

The first string offense looked great though.
Dobson and Thompkins are promising rookie receivers and the running back group is very strong.

These reasons are why Jacksonville (and their fans) should want Tebow to play for the Jag's.  It is in a market near where he went to college and he has lots of fans down there.  Jax isn't a serious contender so Tebow wouldn't hurt anything along those lines.  He is a big draw, so while the franchise may be mediocre, they could sell some tickets and the local fans won't have the game blacked out locally.  It's a win for everyone all around.  Let this continue for a few years until some new hotshot QB shows up in the draft.  Draft him, let him learn for a year, then replace the Tebow cash cow you have been using for 5 years.

Tebow gets to play.
Jax gets to sell tickets.
Media actually will care about Jax
Locals get to see the game
Jax gets to keep their franchise and host a superbowl in 5 years.
