Just spitballing here, but I had a thought: there's all this chatter about the terrorists attacking the embassies and we close them down and evacuate. The goal of the terrorists is to instill one with "terror" and "fear" and cause you to not adhere to what you would normally do and cower and possibly run away. With that said, by out government closing down and evacuating the embassies, the terrorists are winning. When did this country get castrated?

So, the people at the embassy get an impromptu vacation, get to leave the 3rd world shiathole they're in, and don't end up dying.

"If this is losing..."

As someone who's slated to go to Pakistan in less than a month I'm getting a real kick out of none of this.

But really, discretion is the greater part of valor. We don't control the territory, and the cost to protect a larger number of staff would stretch our  available security. They can either do a poor job for many people or a good job for the essentials.

The BENGHAZI ! screamers have won though I don't think this is what they intended.

Expect frequent diplomatic evacuations on the basis of rumors just to be safe in the future.

Dangit! Should have RTFT first!

Anyway, to everybody saying we should beef up security, just what are you proposing? What type of security would have been needed in Lybia? How do you think the host countries would react to a company of Marines showing up? What do you know?

Honestly curious

Here's another idea. How about we pull all our people out of these third world shiatholes that already hate us, close down all these embassies, stop sending them any more of our money, and start rebuilding our own damn country.

Way to go GZ.

pc_doc_54: . How about we pull all our people out of these third world shiatholes that already hate us,

Lahore is hardly a third world shiathole. Oh sure you head up north and Pakistan gets a bit dicey, but Lahore and Karachi are great cities. And both filled with people who are really sick and tired of this shiat cause it's farking the Pakistani economy. Also Pakistanis don't hate Americans, yeah the Pakistani government can be a bit back and forth, but your average Pakistani has no problem with America or Americans, largely because, why would they?

2013-08-09 08:55:39 AM

Who gives a fark how they react?  You are talking about piece of shiat countries like Pakistan and Yemen. Either grow a pair or go home.  Really you can't afford to have all of these offices and bases in other countries anyway (plus most of these places hate you)...so you may as well close 'em all permanently.
