This is a big deal.
Nairobi is a hub airport for most of East Africa.
1/3 of the fresh flowers in Europe are air-freighted via Nairobi
It's peak tourist season there.

I wonder US intelligence picked up some information about this prompting the US to close some embassies.

I think subby was trying to be funny because Kenya was mentioned.

Are there any birthers left? Do they finally admit that they were just being idiots or have they just gone quiet because Obama is not up for election again?

And nothing of value was lost.

Seriously, I've been to the Nairobi airport about a dozen times, it's one of my least favorite places on earth.

They're still around on news-site comment boards. But I don't know if there are any on Fark anymore. This place is slightly better at shaming loud-mouthed lunatics.

Thanks.  I read the story and figured just like in Oklahoma when something is posted to a news site within the first five comments or so, Obama's birth origin is questioned, but the comments wouldn't load to confirm this.

/on another note, the birther movement while we haven't heard much out of them lately, would all of their heads collectively explode if after 2016 elections Obama revealed "I was indeed born in Kenya you all just got trolled suck it biatches"

Qatar Air said its Nairobi flights were being rerouted to the Kilimanjaro airport in Tanzania.

Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/08/07/3547293/big-fire-closes-nairobi - airport.html#storylink=cpy

Ouch! JRO is a tiny airport. A single large airplane can overwhelm customs for an hour or two, especially at night. It's a nice little airport but not one that can handle an increase in usage. At least the roads in the area have been upgraded to first world standards but it's still a long drive to Nairobi from Kilimanjaro International.

I noticed there has been a drop off here but believe me there are plenty still out there.  It isn't just limited to stories about Obama either.  I believe it is the direction society's mentality is going.  There was a story the other day locally about a 2 month old baby that had been taken from the local hospital by the father and a woman before being seen.  Last name was Dominguez I believe.  Weeners on the station's facebook page, "Were they legal?"

I think that would make Sarah Palin automatically ex-president and ObamaCare is now known as PalinCare and therefore Republicans supported it the entire time so vote Republican

It's OK for foreigners to run for president, as long as they're Republicans.

Seriously - they even wanted to amend the constitution to make it happen

Just out of curiosity ... are you posting that to mock people who think a random bio is more accurate than a birth certificate or are you a birther?

I remember that World Nut Daily started touting a new conspiracy theory that his father was some commie, which undercut the Birthers because that would mean he is a US citizen after all.

At a certain point, the deep starts to eat itself.

The last Obama "real birth certificate" I saw was from Mombassa.

Although it was the Capital of the Protecterate of Kenya after 1920, Mombassa was not part of an Independent Kenya at the time Obama was born. It did not become part of Kenya until 1963. And yet Obama's "birth certificate" says Mombassa, Kenya. IT IS THE WRONG FORM--A FORM FROM AFTER 1963.

His father is not from Mombassa, but from a province hundreds of miles inland. The Australian who came forward to claim that the birth certificate in question was a shopped version of his own (the proper form, seeing as he was born after Mombassa became officially part of Kenya) was not born in Kenya either.

There's no evidence (no visa, passport, or other documents) showing that Obama's Mother left the USA around the time of his approaching birth.

I wish the loonies would give it up

Having met Alex Jones on a few occasions around town, I can tell you that the only thing I remember about him was that he has very shifty eyes. He just blinks too much... it's like he's trying to live in a world of strobe lights or something... which could explain why he only sees small bits of information to make up his otherwise skewed reality.

Ah, to have back the heady times when the Governator was going to fix every problem through sheer force of will and become the next President, before he folded like a house of cards and stopped doing anything remotely related to governing.

The submitter does not actually believe the easily discredited claim that President Obama was born in Kenya, as is evident by the structure of the headline.

No fire department or equipment to put out the flames.  Private firefighters totally overwhelmed and ineffective.  Tea Party paradise.
