There was a I and II?

Why?

*facepalm*

Wait, there was an Expendables 2?

2013-08-07 12:20:37 AM
2 was an entertaining popcorn movie. 1 was a dimly lit poorly edited headache. Looking forward to 3 being more if 2.

of 2, ya damned phone keyboard

I think that was the headline subby was searching for.

2013-08-07 01:13:58 AM
You'd think they'd all have been expended by now.

2013-08-07 01:32:46 AM
I'll say it:  Harrison Ford > Bruce Willis

Wasn't there talk about Steven Seagal possibly being the bad guy this time around?  I doubt they'd get Mel Gibson to do it.  Either way, I can't think of any time where either of those two played a bad guy.

2013-08-07 01:52:31 AM
I have a bad feeling about this.

2013-08-07 02:23:24 AM
Why not Bruce and Harrison together?  Oh and one more thing, I'm happy there is Jackie Chan.

2013-08-07 02:56:14 AM
Stallone called Willis "greedy and lazy" on Twitter.

Let that sink in. You have to wonder just how bad Willis could be in order to receive such an indictment. You have to be pretty farking greedy and lazy to get called out on it by the guy who made six "Rocky" flicks, four "Rambo" flicks and three "Expendables" flicks.

2013-08-07 03:42:45 AM
So Willis was expendable?

He'd only do it for a LOT of money and even then....

Jovovich? OK, I'll stream it.

Get ready to root for the bad guy.

I think Gibson's the villain in Machete Kills.

I enjoyed 1 more than 2. 1 was the popcorn movie, but 2 was lousy with jarring editing and inane showstopping one-liners that must have been either improvised or written by a 15-year-old.

Remember that they're both from the Philly area and that Willis built up a pretty bad reputation for himself about twenty years.

Also: Willis has a bad reputation in Hollywood for signing up for films and then not "understanding" the scripts.  Good directors manage to work around this; mediocre ones end up with an actor who refuses to say the lines that were written months or years before he signed onto the project (see: Kevin Smith & A Couple of Dicks).

Rumor is Gibson IS the bad guy.

Also Seagal was the bad guy in Machete (2010) the film starring Danny Trejo.

To be fair, the 6th Rocky was awesome.

I'd say 4/6 Rocky movies were good.  3 Rambo flicks were good and I've only seen one expendables, but it was a fun movie.

Stallone really deserves credit for coming up with a franchise designed to give work to over the hill action stars.

It ain't the years, honey, it's the money.

If you're not on the Expendables bandwagon then I don't even know what to do with you. Jean Claude Van Damme got beheaded in the last one! There are characters in this movie named "Yin Yang", "Hale Caesar", and "Toll Road", and those aren't even the most ridiculous ones because Statham's character is named "Lee Christmas"! In #2, the bad guy is going to smuggle 5 tons of weapons grade plutonium out of Russia in giant porcelin pots, through a commercial airport! And the good guys literally kill like 200 henchmen to stop him.

What more do you want?

My favorite part is that they couldn't even be bothered to come up with enough one-liners for Arnold, and he went to the "I'll be back" well twice.

When those guys were opening Planet Hollywoods in the mid-90s everyone thought it'd be cool if they did movies together. Now, not so much.

2013-08-07 07:25:53 AM
So WTF man?  After years of avoiding anything to do with Star Wars, he's allegedly going to do another one.  And at the same time, he's suddenly in a butt-load of movies.  Did he get divorced and lose his fortune?  Incurable disease and only has so long to live?  Archangel Gabriel came down and told him to pull the stick out of his ass?  Started smoking weed?  What happened here?

I dunno, I ate underneath Ripley's robot lifter and the queen Alien. Not really worth $15 for a hamburger though.

All Geezers & crappy 'actors'. Using the term 'actors' quite loosely. Are they all bankrupt?

It can't be cheap to have to feed Calista Flockhart daily.

It's quite damning that as mediocre as these films are, they are more enjoyable  than most of the rest of the summer explosion michael bay/etc dreck that comes out.

2013-08-07 08:27:16 AM
I maintain that this entire film series is a joke on middle-aged people who don't realize that action movies no longer needed to be made after Terminator 2.

/ if it wasn't for Terry Crews it would be nothing

2013-08-07 08:37:40 AM
The dialogue was embarrassing in the second one. I'm a big fan of subtlety. A bunch of classic action stars saying "Hey! You played the Terminator in that one movie and that guy was the star of Rambo!" was like my suspension of disbelief getting hit in the face with a cudgel.

I'm gonna just say it - is there a reason that he's working now? I mean, really? Isn't it time for retirement?

/seriously, Hollywood, how about some new actors?

This.  Wesley Snipes and MIlla Jovovich are all good additions, too.

More like "The Dependsables", amiright?

2013-08-07 09:57:24 AM
I feel the series would have been much better if they collected a crew and everyone dies along the way to completing the mission - or at most one survives to build the next crew. Christ, the title is called 'The Expendables' but they are the unexpendables.

Yes, subby, you f*cking cockstain, Sly was talking about while Expendables 2 was in theaters.

Really - it must take an immense amount of cash to keep this woman fed; she must consume upwards of 10 calories a day.

I enjoyed the first one but I turned the 2nd one off  after 15 minutes.  You are correct the dialogue was dreadful.  Did the movie get any better?
