Hmm, with Cryptic posting from his satphone, we'll need to figure out what to watch.

Let's' see, H2 has 'Going Medieval'

Travel has Airport 24/7, which is pretty good

Yikes.  What else is there?  Netflix?

Sounds good, which one are you watching?

I've been surfing channels and I went past the Discovery Channel twice and read "I Escaped Jews." But it's "I Escaped Jaws."

Stupid Shark Week.

hahhahahaa, that is what I thought too.

The channel right next to it has a person that escaped the nazis, on the genealogy show.  It was like too close

I'm more of a Brian Cox kinda guy, if I were gay.  That, and Carl Sagan is dead, so that kinda puts a hamper on things.

I've been DVR-ing Wonders of the Universe and similar shows.  Cox, Sagan and the group that does those astronomy shows (one of which is Plaitt, I can't remember the names of the others) really get excited over astronomy and what we've learned ever since we launched the first satellites.

\Tuesday night science thread?  Is this normally a TotalFark thing?  Does it have actual discussions of science rather than the 'hurr-durr Jeebus hates science' posters?  If it's the former, I'd consider TF just to lurk.  If it's the latter (or worse), thanks but no thanks, got plenty of that here on this side of the wall.

Gars are scary, they want to scare you.  They will circle and you don't want to see them close.

Sci is just Mythbuster rehash tonight. I'll have it my background while watching YouTube vids and stuff on the DVR.

That Pluto guy is making a new show.  He is probably moving into the first spot shortly for current American popular space scientists.

Greened for... a Mythbusters marathon.

Okay. Weird, but okay. I'll take it.

Yes, it's a TF thing. Every Tuesday night for the past few years. It's not all hardcore science, but there are discussions usually based upon whatever shows we happen to be watching. It's mostly just hanging out and discussing whatever tickles our fancies.

These days, we don't usually watch the SyEnce Channel, but I haven't bothered to change the thread name...they used to have astronomy-based shows on Tuesdays.

For the last five years or so, CrypticSatellite submits the thread every Tuesday at 9 EST.  Once in a while they will actually play Cosmos on TV.

I think I started joining in back in 2007, or maybe before. I don't know when they were started. But this is my usual Tuesday night thing.

I dreamed that I was riding a bike last night around dusk, and through the window saw Ecmo sitting up in his room in the corner of a brick building typing on the computer, it was a sort of orange or peach maybe room with one wall blue, and waved, and we talked about space.

Neil Degrasse(sp?) Tyson, this guy is also awesome beyond the meager words with which I have access to.  An African American who isn't portrayed as a gangster/pimp/bad guy/dumb-as-a-brick-will-shoot-you-for-funz stereotype.  I'm surprised the media even know how to address his existence.  Looking forward to his new show, whatever it is.

\That said... PLUTO IS A FARKING PLANET!

It is generally science based.  Certainly like a breath of fresh air.  And sometimes there are hot science chicks

So this is what us liters are missing?  I may actually have to consider paying up; I can't have any real science-y conversations with most the people around me.

*steeples fingers together thoughtfully, looking smart and intelagu... intellerj.. smart*

Interesting.  I wish my PC was near the TV (it's not).  I'd have to post from a (gag) tablet, but anything that slows down my brain-pourings would be a good thing, heh.  Thanks!

I'm sure there are other... qualities to TF.  P'raps I will give it a try next week.  Always been curious about UltraFark, too.  Then there's MKUltraFark, and I don't even know how much tinfoil I have on hand right now.

Thanks again!  I'd stick around a bit more, but I need Sleepytime.  Goodnight and happy sciencing.

\Also, if Comcast goes and pushes the Science channel out of my tier?  wellbye.jpg

Hardcore Pawn is good, but they have no science in it, except maybe that gold tester that used neutrinos or something.

It's shiatty that Sheryl Crow gets all the credit for Tuesday Night Science Channel, even though she was a late addition to the group and most of the writing was actually done by guys like Bill Bottrell and Kevin Gilbert.

I wasn't aware this was a thing, though now that I do...  here is my Thursday night science passion:

www.twis.org/ They broadcast live on Thursday nights about 11:00 EST.  I've never considered inviting Fark to a show.  They also have an IRC channel that they read before and after the show, and occasionally during the show if it's relevant.  I'll post a link when it's live this week.
