Maybe, just maybe; you should actually, you know, fix the problem instead of just piling on dirt like a mole.

And there's one in Kansas that's 200 feet across and 90 feet deep and growing.

"Below" indeed.

That's where the real story is.

On one hand I love Montreal because everyone is chilled out, and nobody seems to give a fark. On the other hand, the place is a corrupt shiathole of crumbling infrastructure precisely because nobody gives a fark. It's almost a failed state, insofar as a metropolitan area can be one.

Subbs, you got a swallowed back-ho and you couldn't do anything with that?

There's some high quality fail in the s****s**w below the article.  Like this gem in #4

More than 800 people were evacuated from a village in China's Guangxi province in early June 2012 after a sinkhole threatened the surrounding land. The hole was initially built as a well to provide water to children in a nearby schoolhouse. The hole is reported to have caused one building to collapse, six to tilt, and one to collapse.

She does have a lot in common with a large hole in the ground.

I love the fact that, according to the yellow spraypaint marks, there also appears to be a gas line about 2 feet away.

Q: "How do you say "WTF" in French?"
A: WTF is a universal social media expression.

My friends and I sometimes say "seal cotton", which is the English translation of "ouate de phoque" which was used in an old comedy routine about a French (from France) journalist doing a report about the James Bay development project.

The worst part is if you can't send an outsider who knows how to get shiat done to Montreal.  Within a month they will be corrupted by the awesome laid back atmosphere, amazing food, and great strip joints.

Waiting on my neighborhood to be next.

Last Friday, 2 blocks from my house, water started coming out of the middle of the street.  Not gushing, just a steady stream coming up right in the middle of the road because a pipe burst under the road.  I called the cops (didn't know who else to report it to) and they said they'd take care of it.  I talked to neighbors who did similar things (called cops, city councilmen, the street department....) and we all agreed it would be fixed soon.

Crews showed up this morning to fix it.

Water has steadily poured out of the street for 5 days before they got around to responding and fixing it.  There's no way the ground under that street is stable and still intact at this point.  I'm secretly hoping a backhoe or something falls in to teach them a lesson that they should have responded sooner.

danno_to_infinity: St Catherine, isn't that where all the good strip joints are at?

Yes, several, but only one on that block. Ste-Catherine and Guy is where Concordia university is located. So, only one strip joint, but about a dozen coffee shops, including Second Cup and Starbucks next to each other right on that corner. Also, a restaurant, a bar, a grocery store and a barber shop. Oh, and an underground mall, with its own bevy of coffee shops, restaurants, etc...
