The teens described a life of plenty in their 10,000-square-foot Wyoming mountain retreat and a South Carolina plantation -- a pet lion cub, diamonds for show-and-tell and snorkeling in Fiji.

But juxtaposed against that was a slavelike childhood, being locked in a basement filled with feces and scalded by boiling baths.

They were terrified most of the time, "dead bolted" in their rooms at night where they had to relieve themselves in the corner, according to the interview. They were raised by various nannies and subjected to the explosive nature of their father.

"I never asked to be born into any of this," Georgia told Rolling Stone. "Sometimes I wish I was never born."

What the hell?

Their father, Duke's nephew Walker Patterson Inman Jr., was a heroin addict who got custody of the children when he divorced their mother when they were 2. Racking up five wives, he lived on an estimated $90,000 monthly inheritance.

Oh, well it all makes sense now.

As someone who went through similar child abuse, I feel for them. Nice to know they'll be able to afford all the therapy they're gonna need. That sh*t messes you up long-term.

Didn't even read the article, did you? You'd probably be slitting your wrists after a single month of that kind of treatment, especially as a child. Boo-farking-hoo? Eat shiat and die.

As a victim of child abuse, scars heal pretty damn fast when you have the freedom of finances.

I'm sorry that they were abused but the "poorest rich kids" phrase is just asking for people to jeer.  They're going to inherit a billion dollars, stick to the abuse angle because they aren't getting any sympathy for their financial troubles if any.

And why am I think of Brewster's Millions right now?

It's a curse to be born rich.  Now that I've had the benefit of poverty, however, I think I could handle vast wealth at this time.

Sorry, if you had been through something similar to that I would hope you would have enough compassion to realize how terrible it is. I'm sure these kids would give up that money in a heart beat if they would have lived in a loving home without having to be locked in a room where they forced to defecate in the corner.

And the fact that you look at this as a "reward" at the end demonstrates some serious issues on your part.

This story is just really beyond the pale in some ways, poor kids. (no pun intended)

But who wrote this crap?

"Walker Jr. died of a methadone overdose in 2010. It was then that the twins moved in with their mother, a former model and his third wife, Daisha Inman, according to the magazine "

Why did they move in with three other people?  What horrible writing.

"Some might argue that is a fitting description of the family fortune, culled from the Lucky Strike cigarette brand. Duke became the "richest little girl in the world," when she inherited $100 million in 1947, the only child of tobacco tycoon James Buchanan "Buck" Duke.
But the 6-foot-tall glamour queen went on to do good works, donating much to North Carolina's Duke University, which had been named for her tobacco-growing ancestors "

There is a lot more to this story than is in the linked one:

http://www.gtowntimes.com/local/Trouble-in-Paradise--Duke-heir-death -i gnites-family-flames2012-08-19T15-12-55
A court-appointed guardian in Platte County, Wyo., concluded that the children would be better off with Inman despite his history of "multiple marriages for short durations; his drug, alcohol and cigarette use; limited parenting experience and prior parenting mistakes; and his unusual, perhaps dysfunctional, upbringing," court records show.

The guardian noted, among other things, that Daisha Inman had worked as a topless dancer and had psychological problems that included paranoid symptoms and post traumatic stress disorder, court papers stated.

Since the one twin called it "blood money" according to TFA, I suspect you're right.

What the fark is wrong with some of you people? You act like because their great-grandparents and grandparents were rich (daddy pissed through what little money he got--his mother apparently didn't trust him with too much and gave most of hers to charity, and mama is trying to steal the money from their trust funds, according to TFA), that somehow justifies being horribly abused to the point that random strangers in a diner feared for your life.

Jesus Christ, you people need a farking reality check if you can say shiat like "boofarkinghoo" and "I've been through something similar and I didn't get a reward out of it" (your reward--as mine--is farking surviving and choosing to not continue to do that in your own life). Unbelievably selfish excuses for humanity--but I sometimes forget this is Fark...carry on.
