He was hilarious when doing his "Swami" bit on the Sharks.

If there is any sport that needs to worry about helmets, it's hockey.  I understand that football players use their helmets the entire game, but hockey player hits are far more violent IMO.

my fondest memory of Shawn burr was in nhl95, when playing my brother and losing, he was always clutch.  we called him Shawn "Big Man" Burr, because more often then not, he would tie it for me late in the game....

So you're saying players should wear helmets even when they're not playing and after they retire as they go through everyday activities in life?

Also, fingerless mittens. You know, to prevent eye injuries.

Shawn Burr was a big reason why i got into hockey. I was 7 back in '92, and i was fresh off following my first red wings season. (my older brother convinced my parents to spring for PASS Sports network the year before).  When i found out Shawn Burr and Paul Ysebaert were signing autographs at meijer in my hometown (2 hours away from the joe). I pretty much made her go. He signed my cards and asked me why i didn't have #11 on the back of my sweater.

That may seem like a pretty basic story, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. I went home and played nothing but street hockey for a week, and begged my mom to get me skates and take me to the rink. I haven't really looked back.

My wife had his dad as a Grade 6 teacher and Shawn Burr would come in and sign autographs for the whole school. Sounds like he was a classy guy. Sad.

F*ck Leukemia.  Took my uncle, took one of my wife's students.

Always seems to take good people.  At least in my experience.

RIP hockeyman

Wait, you think leukemia was upset that it lost and came back and tripped him so he'd get a head injury and die? Damn, leukemia's even more of a dick than I thought.
