At least he's having fun and still active at 94.  Good for him.

Get off my grampoline.

Fascinating fact:

There is a growing body of evidence that old people do not break their hip when they fall.  They fall because their hip spontaneously breaks.

/good for him though
/will help with bone density

Hey, I guess they're right. Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose. I'll be right back. Don't you go dying on me!

2013-08-06 11:20:38 AM
I don't want to fall so I just ignore the existence of gravity

2013-08-06 11:21:38 AM
Fark, if I ever get to 94, I'd probably do the same just to keep me up and about. Plus, all that practice will help him roll with the fall once it happens, probably keep him from breaking anything else.

Thinking about hip replacement surgery gives me the creeps.

You can do everything perfectly - but even with the best genetics, diet, trainers and Doctors - time will get you in the end.

Speaking of cool old people, here's an awesome documentary.

Reminds me of the Addams Family episode where Gomez took up skydiving. He started with a normal size parachute and gradually used smaller and smaller ones until he wouldn't need in one at all.

I was amused to see that he used to live in a senior home.

Did he purify himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka before starting this regimen?

Nope, he'd just be a dumbass and it'd be pretty damn predictable. That said good on this guy for staying active at least; were he doing something less high-impact and actively watching his diet he'd probably far better off than most his age.

Wow, he doesn't look a day over 70.

He's doing it wrong. Most often what happens is one breaks their hip due to a external event (pressure from stepping up or down a curb or stair step, getting up from a seated position are examples) then falls due to the broken hip. Vs falling an causing a broken hip.
Good for him any way.

Learning to fall is an extremely useful life skill and should be taught to everyone.

Makes sense, I mean when the cow gave birth I carried the calf 15 feet.
I did this every day.
Now, that the calf is a full grown Heifer, I can carry her 15 feet . . . right?

He should just lightly beat his hip with a sturdy copper whisk broom and get them osteocystes activated. Ya really it works.
