You don't understand.

Other than drinking and f*cking, there's literally nothing else to do in Iowa City.

WE'RE NUMBER 3!  WE'RE NUMBER 3!

Since we're not #1, I guess I'm not doing my part.  Time to kick it up a notch.

My old alma mater was a party school, but really, what else is there to do in the middle of a swamp?

Well, technically, it was a coasal marsh, but same difference. It was wet, with ten foot mud banks when the tide went out.

The last time I heard of such a ranking, it was by Playboy magazine, and it was ~30 years ago. The University of Florida won, and the school i was then attending ranked low with the only blurb next to the ranking was "I play football for Bo!".

/go blue.

Iowa City has a very high concentration of bars and a very low concentration of alternative entertainment. It's not like there is big city variety to soak up some of that free time. Or just grab a bottle and hit the dorms.

I've never been to Iowa, but I would wager you forgot "get high and drunk around a bonfire and do dumbass shiat".  Cause that's what you do, other than drinking and f--king (or all three at the same time!) in BFE Michigan.

Did you know because the Iowa City Police dept was tired of not being able to do anything about loud parties where they could not open there door.  So the city council introduced a law to force people to let police inside.

/Don't know whatever happened to it, if the bill stalled out or or if students are now creating recorded 'safe rooms' by entrances in party houses.

The local ACLU put out a "your property rights" flier that any smart person throwing a house party had taped to their front door.

My friends lived on a street that has an epic street party every year, where the cops just go down the street handing out tickets.  They locked the front door after 9, sat on the porch, and when the cops came by claimed that they had just showed up for the house party and were chilling on an out of town friend's porch.  Only house to not get a ticket.

Sorry, kids, but we're living in the "steroid era" of college partying. Us old timers were better partiers and we did it all natural, m'boy. The proliferation of modern energy drinks, electrolyte replenishment products and supplements - including widely available over-the-counter hangover remedies - and consumer grade breathalyzers, makes this the A-Rod Generation of drunks. Sleep tight, lightweights.

There's even less to do in Ames than there is in Iowa City.

Questions for the "Party Schools" list centered on the use of alcohol and drugs on campus, the popularity of fraternities and sororities, and the number of hours students reported studying each day, according to a letter sent to the university last week by a Princeton Review publicist.

There's your problem.

heh - and I can see him scaring the sh*t out of kids when he's in full Bo mode on the field...

CSB... Some years after I graduated (and also years after he'd retired), I had heard that he still sometimes attended games at the stadium, but whatever, right? So at some game that I happened to attend, I'm walking around the outside of the stadium but inside the gates, when a blue jeep cherokee is very slowly driving through the crowd. My first though was 'who the fark is this driving a car in here?!?'... So I stopped walking and payed attention, as this was clearly someone who, quite wrongly, felt entitled to drive through the crowd at the big house.. At that point, I noticed the Ohio plates, and was instantly getting ready to yell "go blue" at this guy...
Then the driver and I locked eyes and I said, loudly, "Love you Bo!," and he smiled and nodded. It was only after I noticed who was driving and said this that it suddenly became a lot harder for him to make progress through the crowd. Somehow, no one had noticed before I did. It was a neat moment...
I never actually met him in person, but the wife knew an assistant coach because of where she and he gre up, and as a birthday present she scored me a signed football from Bo that said "To Bill, Go Blue" with his signature which I've had in a plastic case for decades now... cheers

There's some pretty awesome weed in Iowa.  Not all farmers focus on growing the tastiest corn or raising the best bacon bound pigs.

So I hear

I dunno about the University of Iowa being #1.  I grew up a half hour north of Iowa City, spent a lot of time there and partied there regularly in my late teens/early twenties.  I went to school at Iowa State though and they don't hold a candle to us.  We had not one, or two, but THREE riots while I was there all over alcohol.  The ISU administration was pushing for a dry campus (after a death at a fraternity involving a stabbing) and the student body was having nothing of it.  The last one started at a house part with 500+ people during VEISHA weekend (the spring party).  Cops show up, try to shut it down, nothing happens.  Cops leave, come back in riot gear,  boom, self fulfilling prophecy.  It was surreal, I was hanging at a bar where I used to work and am friends with the owner (Welch Ave Station), they locked everyone inside for our protection... until the tear gas started filtering inside, then they rushed everyone out the back and told us to head straight home.  LOL, yeah, we went "home" all right, but not the direct route.  Good times.
