Exactly, that's bad game design.  Most shooters incorporate limited ammo from point to point as a means to keep things challenging.  I don't like the ones that are truly miserly "here are four bullets, we'll give you one more tomorrow!", but infinite ammo is silly.  If China is training their guys to waste tons of ammo maybe we should look at that as a good thing.

It's OK when you do horrible things to the United States' imagined foreign enemies in games.  Though America's Army or whatever was a lot less gratuitous than private industry games, so who knows.

This (along with other similar examples) are why the world is do farked up.  People just will not let things go.  OK, if you are still alive and remember the horrible crap that was done to you then you do have a legitimate right to keep on hating.  But, when your children who were not even involved hate on the same level that you do then you have failed as a parent.  Well, maybe if you were raising your children during the 100-Years War I can understand that, but seriously, let it go already.  Teach your children forgiveness.

Sad Story Bro:  I once worked with a jewish woman who was born here in America in the late 50s and she absolutely hated Germans.  Any time Germany was mentioned in the news she would mention the holocaust and call them monsters.  So sad, and pathetic.

The Japanese consider the Chinese to be an inferior race, like everyone else who isn't Japanese. I'm not sure if the Chinese feel the same way, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Considering you play a walking apocalypse of Russians in most US made games I'm finding their outrage laughable. Not that I'll play the game mind you (mostly because it's from China and they tend to like their less reputable rider programs if you catch my drift.)

I was thinking the same. After reading about Nanking, and talking to a neighbour who lived in Hong Kong during WW2, I think this is kind of tough sh*t for the Japanese. Sucks to be you, but continued Japanese denial of history isn't making friends in China.

The Japanese are HATED by most of Asia. Justifiably.

The Japansese were vicious, evil bastards for their entire history until after World War II. Even the Nazis were freaked out by some of the things the Japanese did.

So I don't have a problem with this.

If you want to really understand how older Chinese feel about Japanese atrocities during World War II, look up "The Rape of Nanking" or "Unit 731" and you'll be wishing those video game weapons had bigger magazines.

I've always loved that dynamics.  Many native Asians assume that all Asians are superior to whites and vastly superior to blacks.  But they also know that their nationality is also vastly superior to the other Asian counterparts.  They also just assume that we (non Asians) know and accept this hierarchy.

Unlike say, Americans, who consider all non-Americans their equals.

The history of warfare in South East and East Asia includes plenty of examples of atrocities committed in order to intimidate the opposing forces and create a sense of fear, in the hopes of preventing retaliation or invasion in the future.

Understand how the older folks feel, yeah. But I can't say that knowing the history makes me want to shoot at a computer image of a dead soldier.

Also, links for people who want to see some information with one click. Nanjing. Unit 731.

There's a difference between having the option to unload your magazine into a dead soldier and being forced to by the game. Not much of a difference, but it's there.

Go look at a map of the eastern hemisphere.

Look at the size of Japan compared with the rest of that continent.

Consider what strategy you would employee to prevent people from taking the trouble to cross a relatively small body of water to invade you.

Also, consider that it worked, up until a time that there were political forces in place to restrain nations from invading one another. It wasn't needed as much after that, although looking at China now...Who knows.

It depends upon the Chinese military doctern and whether it has advanced from WW2 and Korea (I am not sure how they conducted the war with Vietnam).  China has for some time prefered the war of attrition... makes sense being they are vying for the most populous nation on the earth.  In a war of attrition resouce discipline is not needed.  You just need to be able to out produce both man and machine than your enemies

How is it different?   I am pretty sure that when a bunch of guys in California sit down to create a first person shooter game and decide to go with a World War II game based in the European theater that they are not doing it because they hate the Germans.

Also, can you name another similar video game where the coders hard wired the game that anytime you go near a fallen enemy that it automatically has your character empty your magazine or clip into the dead body?  Or do you not understand how repeating shooting a dead enemy soldier is hateful?

Nobody said anything, for the most part. And yet many video games have you doing some pretty fun - terrible, I meant to say terrible - stuff to groups we happen to not like.

While you're checking Wikipedia read about the Great Leap Forward that caused a famine that killed 20 to 40 million Chinese. No matter what the Japanese did it was a drop in the ocean compared to what Mao did.

But then the current leaders would have to admit the mistakes of the past and they are just as incapable of doing so as the Japanese

Please. Koreans think Japanese and Chinese are dirt, and Chinese think Japanese and Korean are boot-licking thieves.

The only two differences between the France-Germany-UK relationship and the China-Japan-Korea relationship are that the Europeans have decided that forgiving each other is probably beneficial to everyone, and that the Asians all like tofu.
