You don't get it, though. They normally make fun of Republicans. Now, though, they're making fun of Democrats. In fact, Democrats (and Obama) have become their "number 1 target."

This is basically the same thing, exactly the same thing, as Oskar Schindler deciding that, even though he was a ranking member of the Nazi Party, he could no longer stand by and watch Jews be shipped to concentration camps.

The late night comedians have realized the magnitude of their previous errors in supporting liberals through their constant, unthinking, knee-jerk lampooning conservatives. This could be -- most likely is -- only the beginning of a massive social correction in American media, one that might wash away the last lingering remnants of the notorious liberal elite entrenched so long within the networks and bring about a vastly more fair, reasonable, open-eyed portrayal of the world as it is. Take notes, Jon Stewart, for when you return. Fair and balanced doesn't have to be limited to Fox; it's OK to dare hope for more.

I have to assume they're defining "joke" loosely.

I wish I could just watch tv and count as my job.

Late nite talk show hosts make fun of things that are unpopular.  Obama is a lot less popular than he used to be and as such, they are making fun of him more.  Nothing more than that.

Oliver's very funny in the fake anchor chair, but his interviews are cringe-worthy. He talks too much, and his questions are mainly of the "I LOVED your [thing you're plugging]; how DID you become so awesome?"

My favorite:

"Well, finally the long race is over and as usual a guy from Kenya won." -David Letterman

Yeah, I agree. He's done a great job running the first part of the show, especially when he gets to do long narratives on his own. Although I don't think he's as good as Stewart at bantering with the other correspondents. He's a terrible interviewer, though.

Obama's job-approval rating is virtually unchanged over the past three years. But the executive branch has been in the news for some unpopular stuff lately, and late-night comics write jokes based on current events. Republicans haven't been in the news because they don't actually do anything.

then they would be joking about congress 24/7.  they just don't have much more to joke about....the occasional weiner joke or some celeb and that's it.

WHY are they not on trial for TREASON?!

Now if only they could make more jokes funny.

Yeah, but the people who make fun of MY president aren't funny.

There, that should make me feel better.

ahhh..  I almost NEVER watch the interviews on the daily show or colbert, once the first 2 parts are done, i usually just delete at that point

Why, this can't be.  I am assured repeatedly by AM talk radio and the denizens of the Blogodome that all late-night tv comedians are staunch, brainwashed Democrats, and therefore have their lips affixed firmly to the Fartbamian Schnocker and are slurping on it for all they're worth.

So this brother,an illegal alien, and a conman walk into a bar, giving all the white folks THE LOOK,  walks up to the bar, and the bartender says?

"Good evening Mr. President."

A recent Letterman joke: "People always say to me, they say, 'Hey, Letterman,' they say. 'Why don't you make jokes about Obama?' And I say, 'All right, I'll tell you why. I don't make jokes about him because I don't want the FBI tapping my phone."'

Letterman needs new writers.

Nobody believes you actually mean any of that. You're not fooling anyone. You no more believe Fox is fair and balanced than you do in the easter bunny.

Congrats, Obama, you received your white person's card.
Be careful, they might start judging you on your performance.

Yeah, but that doesn't explain Obama getting away with murder for 5 years without a peep from the people who were on GWB before he even took office.
