Ahhh, local news.  Making people retarded decades before cable news got in the game.

His recall was spurred not by beer choice but anger over his law effectively ending collective bargaining rights for public workers.

Really AP? Did that really need to be said?

Hey this is the first time my governor Jay Nixon is on Fark.

Thank God for him or else we would have a rubber stamp for the Tea Party lunatics in the MO Legislature.

One of the few things to be proud of Missouri for.

My advice to you, Wisconsin, is to drink heavily. Even more than before. You used to be cool.

Bland lager.  Not bad, just...  Bland.

My real complaint about Yuengling is that their damn bottles tend to be lighter/thinner then normal, making them break far more often in the trash/recycling bin.

You can actually kinda get away with drinking Bud in this state if one of the following is true:

1) You're a transplanted FIB
2) It's a backwoods bar and they ran out of Miller.

/Although I do have relatives who are Wisconsinites through and through who prefer Bud.

I found this list of largest American craft brewers by volume in 2012. Boston Beer Co. is #1 and Yuengling doesn't appear in the top 10. What is their production?

Just wish I had something more respectable to drink for this auspicious occasion. I only read these for the recommendations from other farkers. The selection is quite limited round these parts. :(

But at least the Spoetzl Brewery is kind enough to ship the good stuff our way.

Maybe the best one that makes it to TX, but not even in the same ballpark with the brewpub and microbrewery scene we got in this state.  This is just what we've got in Madison, not even including suburbs.  All are excellent and unique.

Leinie's is owned by MillerCoors, and therefore not headquartered in Wisconsin.

It sort of counts, because they act as a wholly owned subsidiary, but not quite.

Petey4335: No Sprecher?

Sprecher is pretty good.  So are Point, Capital, and Hinterland, but Lakefront, New Glarus, and Milwaukee Brewing are by far my favorites as far as Wisconsin breweries go.  There are tons of other fine brews to be had from this state.  Ale Asylum, Furthermore... You could go on for a while.  Everybody looks elsewhere to places such as Colorado and Oregon as craft brewing meccas, but Wisconsin does pretty well for itself, too.

Pretty much all of them except Minhas, that is.

I am thoroughly embarrassed that my favorite beer is Bud, but I blame my late alcoholic grandfather for that one. He was giving me cans of beer when I was 4. Not much you can do when the tastebuds are primed. I still prefer the wussier beers, like Molson's and Blue Moon. The fiance just said, "You seem to prefer hefs," so take that for what it's worth.
