So, Peter Capaldi is a Doctor Who fanboy, Scottish, and previously appeared on the show.  I'm thinking Moffat & Co. really dropped the ball on this one.  They could have come out and said, "Fine, here's some hints as to who the new Doctor is going to be.  He's been on the show before, he's Scottish, and he's a huge fanboy."  Then everyone could shiat their pants thinking Tennant was coming back, only to hear the BBC announce Peter as the new Doctor.  Then Moffat could stroll out and say, "Who did you think we were talking about?"

MAXIMUM TROLLING.

HopScotchNSoda: NeoCortex42: How much space does the whole series take up?

1963-1989 (including the special features and Shada, but excluding the  K-9 & Company pilot) takes up about 285.99 gigabytes. [look for the torrent labelled "Doctor Who - The Complete Classic 26 Seasons Collection + Extras"]  I don't have a total for K9 & Company, the PaulMcGann movie, the Richard E. Grant cartoon, nor the revived era. Besides, in the revived era, it would depend upon many factors, like HD versus SD; whether or not to include Torchwood; whether or not to include The Sarah Jane Adventures; whether or not to include K-9, et cet.

Serious Black:  River gave up all of her regenerations to bring the Doctor back to life. They can just say she gave those regenerations to him.

Or that the High Council granted him 13 more, or an unlimited number, or whatever during the Last Great Time War; they had given the Master more lives in exchange for his services, after all.
Or, as the self-proclaimed Time Lord Victorious, he has no such limitations.
Or that sealing Amy's crack (now  there's a good album title) re-set the limit to 13 more lives.
Or that the events of "The End of Time" gave him more/unlimited lives.
Or that the Great Intelligence's & Clara's screwings about  in his timeline somehow added more lives.
Or any other waives of the hand.

He bought a Groupon for 50% off new regenerations.

I like the one before that

"Now Zoe Ball is explaining that the Doctor has the ability to regenerate, which apparently means that he changes in appearance. I don't know about anyone else, but I had no idea about this. I hope she explains what that funny blue box that he flies around is next, or what Doctor Who is. Or what a television is."

THIS

I'd give Dr. Who a chance, but I watched a few episodes of the 70s version on PBS when I was a kid. It looked & still looks cheaply made.
Also now that it's some kind of 'geek cred' thing I'm passing. Tired of the popular geek thing.

I hear ya. When Battlestar Galactica first aired in the 70s, it was cheaply made. So when SciFi made a new BSG, I didn't watch that because the one from 25 years earlier sucked.

If you didn't already have TF, I'd have sponsored you because of that comment

Cheers, mate! bionicjoe's comment was just ridiculous. "I tried watching that old Lord of the Rings cartoon but it was crap, so I didn't bother watching Peter Jackson's LotR series." "I tried steak in the 70s but it was overcooked so when I had a chance to eat some steak in 2006, I said no thanks."

This. Holy shiat that would be expensive though.

And would sell probably pretty well.

I'd buy the shiat out of it no matter how much it was (almost)

The Dark Shadows set lists for $600, I can imagine a Dr. Who set hitting 4 figures.

I have a buddy who built a custom Tardis external hd enclosure that houses every episode available on the net. Lights up, makes the noises etc. Geeks me out every time I see it.

How much space does the whole series take up?

Much less than you would think :)

dopekitty74: Coco LaFemme: I've heard Peter Capaldi's name tossed around quite a bit as the odds-on favorite to be the 12th Doctor, so that's who I'll go with.  It certainly won't be Benedict Cumberbatch, he's too big of a name (though he is a natural ginger, and the Doctor always seems to despair that he's not), no matter how much I'd love to see him do it.  I think if he played the character with a touch of Sherlock's sociopathy, that would be very, very interesting.

Also, if I see one more "fan" demand that David Tennant come back, I'm going to reach through the computer screen and throttle them.  I loved David Tennant as the Doctor, I think he absolutely defined the role, not to mention the fact he's a stellar actor in everything else he's done, but come on.  The Doctor can't degenerate, no matter how much I'd love to see brown pinstripes and Chuck Taylors back in the TARDIS.  It's time to move forward.

Looks like you win

I've been saying this for years.

I think he's the right combination of Eccleston's seriousness, Tennant's physicality, and Smith's goofiness.  Who do we need to bribe at the BBC to make this happen?  Does Moffat take personal checks directly?
