They wouldn't even let David Tenant use his natural, Scottish accent so there's no way they'd let an American play the part.

This. Holy shiat that would be expensive though.

And would sell probably pretty well.

The Dark Shadows set lists for $600, I can imagine a Dr. Who set hitting 4 figures.

Lost Thought 00: No Line For Beer: The All-Powerful Atheismo: Oh shiat she just said it could be a woman

Matt just said, "He came up to me on the street."  So it's a male, and likely not American.

It's not allowed to be an American as long as it's produced by the BBC. All actors must be British.

I really wish we had gotten a second series out of him. It's too bad we don't even get an appearance in the 50th Special.

And that implies they plan to hold onto something to the detriment of not making money. Esepcialliy after they have retconned essentially every other known fact about the Doctor at least 3 times

Don't be pissy in a Dr. Who thread.

River gave up all of her regenerations to bring the Doctor back to life. They can just say she gave those regenerations to him.

getting rid of matt smith is worthy of celebration

I like Matt Smith; he had a yeoman's job anyway, following up Tennant.  No matter who they chose, they'd have their work cut out for them, but I think he did a great job.  I'm sorry to see him go, but that's the whole point of the show after all.

By the time Matt Smith came along, I think a lot of people were ready for Dr. Teeth to take a hike.

I'm biased, but I could have easily had another series or two of the Tenth Doctor.  I understood why he wanted to go though, it's an all-consuming part that takes 3/4 of a year to film, and it wears you out.  Plus, he had that back surgery in December of 2008.

I like the one before that

"Now Zoe Ball is explaining that the Doctor has the ability to regenerate, which apparently means that he changes in appearance. I don't know about anyone else, but I had no idea about this. I hope she explains what that funny blue box that he flies around is next, or what Doctor Who is. Or what a television is."

I have a buddy who built a custom Tardis external hd enclosure that houses every episode available on the net. Lights up, makes the noises etc. Geeks me out every time I see it.

The only thing that may make a Complete Who set cheap is the fact that it's just a matter of slapping already paid for material into one set.

He initially signed on as a 1 year contract with that belief. He changed his mind after the new series took off and wanted to stay on longer, but the producers wouldn't let him.

I'd rather they play up him dying after the next regeneration as the last, and at least let the *handwave* of more regen's be a mystery.
