Doomed: Who the hell knew who any of the previous three modern Doctors were in North America?

Well I knew who Chris Eccleston was

The All-Powerful Atheismo: rpm: The All-Powerful Atheismo: They need to release the complete Dr. Who on DVD.  As complete as possible at least.  Kind of like what they did with Dark Shadows recently.

This. Holy shiat that would be expensive though.

I'd actually buy it though.  I won't buy all of the little disorganized single-episode-on-a-disc shiat they have now.

Big problem I see is what do you do as more episodes are found?

It's going to be Gordon Ramsey.

TheManofPA: I'm going to say the Doctor is someone no one has been discussing, someone who is newer to acting with one known role, and is in his 40s.

I agree, except I think the actor will be early 30s at the oldest.

I'd prefer someone in their 40s or 50s for a couple series.

the 5th doctor actually has sense in declaring th 2nd the best

Mr. Coffee Nerves: It should be James May. He's already under contract to the BBC and he convincingly plays 900 years old.

I'd buy the shiat out of it no matter how much it was (almost)

Seriously though, can someone explain to me why we need a TV special announcing who the next Doctor is?  Just issue a press release.  They didn't do this in 2009.

2013-08-04 02:12:30 PM
If it wasn't for the fact that he has already appeared in the show, Mark Sheppard would have been brilliant

at this point, as much as i want the missing episodes to be found, what are the odds of too many being located?

It's good to see farkers get so wound up about their political representatives. I'm not even sure who's in line for the Surgeon General's seat.

Matt Smith with short hair is odd.

If they really wanted to use him, they could always retcon his previous character as being the Doctor undercove, or something else. Continuity has always taken a back seat to the current story they want to tell on this show.

2013-08-04 02:14:35 PM
It's going to be a he, and Matt Smith knows who it is.

Because this is it.
There can only be 12 regenerations.
It's the end.....of time.....

Because the show's popularity has exploded internationally over the last 3 or 4 years.

TL;DR - Because they can

Good point, could even lampshade it by having him say something along the lines of likeing his style

Maybe after the 50th Special they could have the Doctor acting a bit harsher for a couple series.

The All-Powerful Atheismo: Oh shiat she just said it could be a woman

Matt just said, "He came up to me on the street."  So it's a male, and likely not American.

Maybe it could be Aisha Taylor, that would be a nice curveball.

You can't count.  1+12 regens = 13 Doctors.

And that implies they plan to hold onto something to the detriment of not making money.  Esepcialliy after they have retconned essentially every other known fact about the Doctor at least 3 times

Steven Hawking would make a good Dalek.

I like Matt Smith; he had a yeoman's job anyway, following up Tennant.  No matter who they chose, they'd have their work cut out for them, but I think he did a great job.  I'm sorry to see him go, but that's the whole point of the show after all.

OH BRIAN COX SHOULD BE THE DOCTOR

It's not allowed to be an American as long as it's produced by the BBC. All actors must be British.

By the time Matt Smith came along, I think a lot of people were ready for Dr. Teeth to take a hike.
