Imagine where we would be without the impartial and dedicated journalism that can be found at Townhall.  Serious statement here.  These dudes have literally stopped the Obama's Third Reich from emerging.

But I thought if you had nothing to hide, you shouldn't worry about an investigation?

It boils down to tax fraud. That's all that the IRS "scandal" is about. Did folks who were engaged in partisan politicking attempt to defraud the American people? That's the heart of this whole matter, and perhaps asking for a closer look at this horrendous over-reach--given that folks were granted tax free status despite some misgivings and questioning of their motives--is maybe not the best approach to it...

End of his term? Clearly you didn't see the special report proving he's going to suspend the Constitution, name himself Emperor-for-Life and use the NSA data combined with the DNA harvested from anyone who's handled a penny to set up the Mandatory Gay Marriages. The louder you complain the bigger the uggo you get assigned!

Didn't you read the article?  AIP makes a campaign ad criticizing Obama.  The Obama campaign attacks AIP, which already had 501(c)(4) status, and then, once Obama is President, the IRS illegally gives AIP's tax information to the FEC for investigation.  That's NOT about applying for tax-free status, and the article doesn't even mention applications.  Try being less of a Democrat tool.

If GWB had ordered the IRS to give MoveOn.org's tax information illegally to the FEC, and ordered the FEC to investigate MoveOn.org, it would have been the greatest abuse of power in American history.

Except that none of what you say is true. Much like in AGW threads! At least you're consistent. Hey, also, Bush DID investigate the NAACP because he didn't like what their president said about Bush.

I'm not sure that was inadvertent. In the long game, it might have been a ploy by the non-tea party R's to get the tea partiers both frothing mad (so they'd vote R) and defunded (so they can't win primaries).

From the linked story:  "How long can The White House and its allies continue to claim this is all just a big coincidence?"

With the help of the state-media (i.e. the royal stenographers), and the likes of Fark LiberalsTM, quite a while.  Of course, the IRS supplying congress with a 4-inch-thick stack of 100% redacted 'documents' (think of the ink cartridges!) is producing a lot of noxious smoke.  And where there's smoke, there's fire.

This thing isn't going away and there's nothing 'phony' about it.

That's a pretty good one, and it fits right in with the larger narrative of establishment Republicans like McCain trying to put the TeaTards back in their gimp box. That's what Mittens coronation as the GOP nominee before a primary vote had even been cast was all about.

of course they have.  they are a CONservative publication.  their goal is to get the black guy out of the white house who keeps talking about the middle class, and get their blue blood aristocrat back in so they can continue getting their tax cuts for the rich and continue stealing from this Nation and its shrinking middle/working classes. they hate anyone who is not doing the bidding of the wealthiest 2% of Americans and big business.
