It may be 'throttle-up' instead of 'power-up' though.

connector may have gone bad. If you can, get a hold of a new power supply and see if it charges the battery. If not, your computer is boned unless you wanna take it apart. If it does charge, just need to replace the power supply/cord.

actually, I think it's the laptop itself.  I have two Dell Latitude D620s that I bought from state government surplus.  One always worked better than the other, but I cracked the LCD on it somehow.  So I threw the hard drive and battery in the other and am using the same power cord, but now the battery doesn't charge and if the power cord falls out, the laptop immediately dies.  I need to take the LCD out of this one and install it in the other, but haven't gotten around to it.

that's for you all to deduce.  it'll take quite a few songs before it's obvious to anyone, as not every song is part of the theme and songs that are on the theme haven't kicked in yet.

Yea, although the coastline of Alaska holds it's grandeur I'm sure the beach isn't it's high point as well Alaska seems to offer many benefits that don't coincide with Florida or other Gulf states.

Mr. Murder: Here is something odd. There is a cat hovering in the men's bathroom at the bar here. He seems perfectly happy and healthy, but it's floating about 4 feet off the ground next to the sink. Doesn't seem to be able to move from it's current hover spot.

I'll have what you're having

I just hope the cat isn't hovering over his head in the men's room.  If Murder's looking up at it, that's a scene I don't want to see.

I have seen some, mostly on Kodiak Island.  I haven't been up to the remains of them over in Sitka, or up in Nome, or out in the Aleutians.  When I was on Kodiak, I dropped my camera in the airport right before the flight and it wouldn't power on, had to send it in for repair.

But it's definitely on my list of things to do.  I eventually want to do a book called Abandoned Alaska.

nice. I'm hoping I can still get files off of my damaged hard drive next week. It had a lot of photos of old military installations around michigan, a few not so abandoned missile bases in the U.P. and along the Lake Huron coast, as well as some items left over from the old mining and logging camps from the very early 1900s.

We'll be back to Survivor in two songs.  Bumped my laptop, which knocked the USB connection loose, so my external hard drive would no longer read.  Had to reboot.

I have this quad-core monster of a desktop at home and what has to be the sh*ttiest laptop I have ever owned.  I gotta fix that one of these days.

/I remember saying in an earlier thread that the reason you were single was because of you. I meant you're an attractive guy who should be turning down women, and unless you wanna be single well...

I was alluding that the way you phrased it could also be seen negatively.

I know, I shouldn't play mind games on the inebriated, especially when I'm intentionally dain bramaged as well right now.

She snores, kind of purrs, and only occasionally has the reverse sneezing issue/breathing fits - and only when she gets really over-excited.

She is also a burrower sleeper

Oliver, the pitweiler, is scared of the following:

*our backyard, especially in the dark
*dandelions in their fluff stage
*mud
*his own farts
*porcupines
*the little dog

he's not afraid of bears, though, and is the best watch dog in the world.  also incredibly smart.  he attacks trees and breaks off branches to make a throwing stick that he will bring to you.

many returns of that.   learning you're a reader of very cool books makes it all the more so.

what's your stance on the beatniks?

I have a copy of Howl that Allen Ginsberg signed and drew a sunflower in (and then went out for drinks with him and about 20 other people), and have visited Kerouac's grave, if that gives you any inclination of how I feel about them.

archives of shows are located here, along with playlists.  tonight's show will be there for download in the morning

Well okay I'm mess this up but the beat poets and hippies after them were more than the name. If I recall the name beat comes from the pace of living. probably in Howl to drunk to recall. Anyway the beatnik/Hippie was a later term that the media loved and well ... anyway I'd say the beatniks were the first independent thought post war which was a very important thing. .

Of course that's where media comes in most people still believe in hippies even though San Francisco held a funeral for Hippie son of Media back in 1967 I believe?
Growing up I had to look and read for references to Ginsburg and Kerouac. Before then I thought the beatnics were just motercycle guys in leather jackets.

Damn, I slept right thru it, or Squeezeboxes uses the same source as TuneIn [Turns the box on, select KTOO, hear some blues music. Seems to be working]

Woke up at 2am. The snot machine ran full bore tonight. Took a shower. The humid air in the shower usually capture flying particles and helps loosing up the stuff clogging my sinuses but tonight just exhaling thru the nose created twin dangling globs of snot. Fun!

I was a very sheltered suburban Oklahoma kid brought up by way-right conservative Baptists (who, in their favor, took me to seedy blues clubs, bbq dives, and soul food meat & three restaurants, from Galveston, through Memphis, Louisiana and into small town Mississippi, and all throughout the south , but I dreamed of moving to the mountains.  When I was 17, I met a wonderful girl who introduced me to both the wonderful world of sex and Kerouac, both of which totally changed everything I wanted out of life.  From there, I ventured into the world of hallucinogens, reading clinical studies on acid for about a year before trying it, and then branching out into MDMA, mushrooms, peyote, and so forth.  I'm still friends with that woman today, and we have a 100 Years Of Solitude kind of wistful friendship. She got a doctorate in Russian and then became a kind of modern day hippie momma of four kids, while I dropped out of college and started cooking professionally before starting my own family and moving to Alaska  From the time I met her, my life changed course and ultimately led me to where I am today, and while there have been years of less than optimal living, I wouldn't trade my trajectory for the world.  It gave me these two:
