Smeggy Smurf: I met Mrs. Smurf's parents about 12 hours before the wedding. 24 hours later they drove 500+ miles away back home and I haven't seen them since. That's been nearly 2 1/2 years ago.
W.C.fields forever: There was a girl years ago. After a couple of nights of 'giggity' .I was making breakfast. She called up her Pops...He was a good friend of mine.25 years older. She sez "hey Poppa,I met someone". She freakin' hands me the phone. He was cool with it,but baby...let me cook the breakfast first..a bloody mary and a warning.
italie: Before you meet each other? Both my wife and I knew our respective in-laws before we met each other. Very weird scenario, but nice to have that off the checklist early...
The Southern Dandy: As soon as possible. Parents are an excellent indicator of you SO's future self. If their parents are train wrecks, it's asses & elbows time.
rev. dave: Advice to guys in their 20's. At least see a current picture of her mother, she will look like that in a few years, you have been warned.
Mikeyworld: For the guy, You meet her parents when she wants to get serious. For the girl, you meet his parents when he needs to borrow something.
The Southern Dandy: Parents are an excellent indicator of you SO's future self. If their parents are train wrecks, it's asses & elbows time.
imapirate: I met my in-laws at dinner a couple weeks after I met my wife. Not long after, I went over to pick her up and her dad was sitting at the dining room table, cleaning one of his many guns. It freaked me out pretty bad once he said "have a seat, son."Funny thing is, years later, he didn't even realize he was intimidating me. He was just cleaning his gun and asked me to sit down.
Quackadam: Every time I met the parents, if her Mother liked me, it was the death nail of the relationship. So now I try not to.
pecosdave: In October I'm getting married to my kindergarten teachers daughter. I'm seven and a half years older than my fiance. So - yes, I knew my future mother-in-law before my fiance was born. Oh, and her dad took my group of RA's to camp when I was in the third grade or so./Pecos is a small town.//our parents all knew each other before either of us were born///neither of us had lived there in years when we (re)connected on Facebook
I May Be Crazy But...: A few minutes before her father tells her you're not good enough for her.
OgreMagi: If all goes as planned, I'll be out her bedroom window without he realizes I was there at all. Angry fathers with guns scare me.
