A few minutes before her father tells her you're not good enough for her.

2013-08-03 10:07:21 PM
Alternately, I understand you often get to hear from her parents at the sentencing.

2013-08-03 10:07:30 PM
In the middle of coitus, preferably.

2013-08-03 10:07:35 PM
I usually end up dating guys who live at home, so the first time they take me home.

2013-08-03 10:07:51 PM
Wife met my family after about 6 months. My mother commented "She's really nice. She'd make a nice addition to the family, if you know what I mean" Yeah, mom, I  think I can piece that one together.
I never met my in-laws. Her father died before we met. Her mother was not a nice person, so she didn't want me to meet her.

2013-08-03 10:08:07 PM
That was a fast green.

2013-08-03 10:08:26 PM
Never, because even mentioning them to Mom and Dad is a jinx.

2013-08-03 10:08:53 PM
Never again.

3 months 3 weeks and 3 days in.

2013-08-03 10:09:09 PM
My family? Hopefully in the first few months. Hers? Preferably never. Ugh, who wants to go through meeting the family?

Not MY family, though. My family is AWESOME.

2013-08-03 10:09:46 PM
Do I, personally? Like, a while. My family is loud and heavily medicated.

2013-08-03 10:10:09 PM
They usually meet my parents awkwardly at the breakfast table the next morning.

2013-08-03 10:10:57 PM
My family lives 3,000 miles away, so I'm only going to take home a fella who is invested enough in the relationship to spend $500 on a plane ticket. About six months, generally.

My most significant relationship was with a chick who actually kept me a secret from her parents, because her mom was dead set on matching her up with some guy she grew up with. I met her mom by accident one day anyways at the laundromat, and it wasn't a total nightmare. She just started biatching to me about her slut of a daughter, and I kept nodding sympathetically and pretending not to recognize her. Never told my gf.

2013-08-03 10:11:05 PM
I mean, so am I but a whole gang of us is usually overwhelming.

I met my in-laws at dinner a couple weeks after I met my wife. Not long after, I went over to pick her up and her dad was sitting at the dining room table, cleaning one of his many guns. It freaked me out pretty bad once he said "have a seat, son."

Funny thing is, years later, he didn't even realize he was intimidating me. He was just cleaning his gun and asked me to sit down.

Are you kidding me? A gaggle of CatherineM's would be awesome to hang out with.

I met my wife's parents like 3 weeks in.

/I went to her senior prom.

2013-08-03 10:15:21 PM
When I was younger, like..16-24 I pretty much met the parents within the first few weeks. Nowadays I've been seeing and living with a girl for two years and haven't met either parent once. My hairy, pale Canadian ass isn't flying to the southern states to die in the heat. If they really want to meet me they can fly up to Edmonton which no one ever does!

I met my former in-laws when I was 10.

Bad grammar on my part. I meant Skippy the hometown quarterback that my (now ex) gf had grown up with. She had dumped him in high school, but mommy dearest never got over it.

Absolutely. And if you're feeling bold, you can ask them if they want a grandson or granddaughter.

I met my MIL on my first date with my wife. Her Mom was living with her at the time. Her Dad had passed away a few years before.

Advice to guys in their 20's.  At least see a current picture of her mother, she will look like that in a few years, you have been warned.

It really makes for great talk at Thanksgiving

Its easy when you already live at your parents house.  I feel it gets it out of the way faster and they can taste the food I want them to make me. Mother likes to approve them before I go further.

You have to fight off MBK. And hos mother

2013-08-03 10:23:49 PM
When I was younger, it was usually after we had gone on a few dates over several weeks.  Now, almost never.  I'd have to be seeing someone for several months before they even met any of my kids, much less parents.

2013-08-03 10:24:54 PM
There was a cursory hello and good night as we rolled into town quite late but since the GF insisted on being made love to quite vigorously in her daddy's guest room breakfast the next morning got off to a bit of an awkward start. It all worked out well, until she got bored for the kind of action a healthy marriage can never provide.

/any of you ladies feeling a bit peckish?
//soon it will be my turn, dammit

I don't know about that. I mean, the guy ate 50 chicken McNuggets. I don't know if I can wear away that sheer fortitude.

Because often TF'ers "advice" pales in comparison to what the calm, reasoned, unwashed liters can offer here

Now, now.  I'm sure you'll find a nice liter of your very own once this goes green.

I've only met one bf's parents, but the other ones have been incredibly long flights sometimes to different countries away.

There nothing sacred or semi-private about TFD any more.

Hmmm a few have met my mom but not many. No one has met my dad. I also haven't met many of my ex's parents...but then again I wasn't the best person to bring home to mom and dad unless you wanted to piss them off.

\better person now...see my halo is all shiny!
