Ten a gram is standard here if buying just a little. The more you buy, the more you save.. I've gotten ounces of good pot at 100 per in the fall when the market is flush

Trying to figure out how you can possibly value just over an ounce at 1500 is making my head hurt. I almost want to start smoking again to deal with this headache.

Jail math maybe?

$50+ a gram still seems ludicrously high, even for jail

Maybe it fetches a premium price cuz it doesn't smell like someone's keester?

This makes me wonder how Washington State and Colorado are going to handle inmates with medical cards. Hell, why wouldn't there be marijuana available for purchase in prison the same way that cigarettes are?

Oh. Now it all makes sense.

Cop math + jail math^florida

I think they'd probably treat it like alcohol in jail. Not allowed inside.

What about medical card holders? Is the weed provided? Are they given a special area of the yard to smoke in? Do other inmates come in at night, cut their hair off and smoke it in a desperate bid to get high?

Jeez. They're not going anywhere with it. They're not going to sell it to kids or hang out in playgrounds with it. They're stuck in prison; Let them get high as long as they're not society's problem.

iat's still $15-$20/g here. Hopefully prices will start to fall once the dispensaries open. Even with higher Northeast prices, 29 grams  ≠ $1500.

If you've lived here (Humboldt) for a few years and are paying for it, you're doin' it wrong.

Freebies of the good stuff are cool.

Prison jail guard prices are a little higher (pardon the pun) than street.

This one time....when I was pretty fresh out of Law School, paying dues as a criminal defense lackey,  a judge gave me 5 days for contempt (I told him he didn't know the law, he told me he was the law...I told him he was an azzole). They made me a trustee, because I was a "damn lawyer", and I found a bag some high school kids dropped in a holding cage they used for pre-book in, took it back to the cell that night, and was "King of The Coop" till I got out.
Prisoners will be your best bud for some bud.
I also got a few new clients.
Hey, I should look one of those guys up instead of making the trip to Colorado!

The value issued is questionable, but not completely insane like some of you think.  It isn't the wholesale price, or the street price at work here.  The real issue is getting the marijuana into the jail and that causes the value to skyrocket as it is difficult and risky to get drugs into the facility.  $50 an ounce while high doesn't seem to out of line.  Tobacco inside can be hugely expensive so when you start talking marijuana or heroin it can be very pricey.  The fact that these people were busted trying to get it inside shows how difficult it can be.

$40 an eighth is standard in Oregon, not $10/gram. And Oregon prices are a real ripoff compared to Oklahoma, which has the right climate to grow the good shiat.

I Spent almost three months in that hole back in '89, so I am getting a kick...
Actually the part I was in had no windows--it was nasty.

You are forgetting "Respect mah authoritah!!!!" A jailer's first duty is to see that you don't escape. His second duty is to make you as miserable as humanly possible.
