Just a few miles from my new place, I'll keep my eyes open for streetlights.

There are so many fighter planes flying around there, I could see something falling off of one of them and the military trying to cover it up by saying it was a weather balloon.

Or, you know, it could simply be a weather balloon.

Oh it's a weather balloon all right, but it's one of the ones which control the weather by refracting the beamed HAARP energy.

Pictures clearly show it's something made of Styrofoam, I don't know what kind of military plane uses that material. Be sure to look at the last pics to see how small this thing is too....

Whatever it was, in Norfolk they are going to take things seriously.

Sounds like they sent a bomb bot in first.

i don't understand why google doesn't release little balloons with gps digital cameras to weave more up-to-date images into google-earth. heck, if they did it at an angle other than straight-down they could even improve the 3d-ness of it.

2013-08-03 12:24:01 PM
Somebody's looking for their iPhone right now.

2013-08-03 12:24:14 PM
Electronics package emitting a strange noise? Yeah that'll get streetlight-level of attention mighty quick on an american street.

2013-08-03 12:25:25 PM
It's possible to take high-altitude pics using a point-and-shoot camera, some timing equipment, and a styrofoam cooler, with a balloon attached to take it aloft.  The cooler helps shield the camera from the intense cold at high altitudes.  It seems very likely that that's what this is.  The timer mechanism is probably what flagged a response.

Because when they come down, jackasses mistake them for streetlights.

2013-08-03 12:31:34 PM
Yeah.
Lots of people are doing this nowadays.
Launching balloons with smart phones and other assorted junk high into the atmosphere.
The balloons pops, the thing falls.
It's gravity you know.

I was going to try to launch a weatherballoon with a camera, gps, and APRS transmitter, but I never got around to it. I also suspect if I launched it from where I live it would end up in Mexico.

See what happens when you call every ufo a weather balloon?

When you finally do get a weather balloon, everybody thinks you're full of shiat.

It's like the bizarro world version of ufo nuts.

Why is it that whenever I say to myself "I should turn off noscript and let websites get some revenue for my visits," I immediately end up at a website with an invasive animated farking banner ad covering the content, with no obvious way to close it.

Did it go "beepbeepbeepbeep", or "beepbeepbeepboopbeep"?

What to if an alien appears:
ONE: Drop under the seat of your plane and look away. TWO: Avoid eye contact. THREE: If there are no eyes, avoid ALL contact.
How to identify alleged sightings: ONE: Pie plates, or as reflections in the atmosphere. TWO: Dry cleaning bags filled with marsh gas, or THREE: Mass insanity.

Did they poke it with a stick?
That's the first step to any serious investigation.

The star fleet traveled for eons, across millions of parsecs, bent on total destruction of the Earth. Unfortunately, due to an error of scale, they were immediately swallowed by a small dog.

Makes perfect sense so many military, federal government, and police groups would all go on high alert over a balloon. We always see such a strong presence when children launch cameras into the atmosphere using a balloon.

The weather ballon is what the "package" used to lift it to its monitoring altitude.

Hampton Roads, and Norfolk....being East Coast military central...has a bomb squad every 10 miles. Each city has a small one, and each base has their own.
Langley, NAB, Oceana, Ft. Eustis, etc, etc, etc.

Guaranteed when there is something 'weird' on the street, one or more will show up. Just because they can.

2013-08-03 01:46:07 PM
The presence of operatives from shadowy federal agencies in overall charge of the incident was - of course - not mentioned by spokesmen briefing the media.

Shadowy? Are you high, dear reporter? The military presence in this area could not possibly be less 'shadowy'.
