I should point out here that this polling is for the state of Alaska only.

And I'm struck by the fact that the biggest lead any prospective candidate has over her is Chris Christie, and he's only up by 8.  Romney carried Alaska by 14 points in 2012.

Reflecting the strong standing we've seen for him a lot of places lately Rand Paul is the top choice of GOP voters in Alaska with 18% to 14% for Sarah Palin, 13% for Chris Christie, 11% for Jeb Bush, 9% for Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan, 8% for Ted Cruz, 5% for Rick Santorum, and 2% for George Zimmerman.

So Hillary Clinton isn't leading against some potential GOP candidates in polls 39 months away from the next presidential election, and the polls in question are of the people living in the world's fourth-largest expanse of open tundra.

Meanwhile, in the parts of  the country where the population is a bit higher than "rounding error," those GOP candidates, and the GOP itself for that matter, have a popularity rating of somewhere between "broccoli" and "cabbage."

Why do republicans hate strong conservative women?

Answer: it doesn't matter if they are conservative or not.

As a fan of broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, asparagus, and other green things that grow from the ground, I take umbrage against your aspersions.

I posit that the GOP (and affiliated persons) are more likely somewhere between poop on your toothbrush and the poopified toothbrush.

If Hillary Clinton wants to run and win, she needs to prove during the primaries that she deserves the nomination and not just that she's next in line and is entitled to it. Obama proved that Democrats and lazy Democrats will come out to vote if you excite them. Granted it will be more difficult this time around, since Obama took all of that political energy and squandered it enacting Republican policies from the nineties, being too pragmatic in the age of ideology, and being hamstrung at every turn by the most obstructionist congressional minority in history.

Democrats can energize the electorate, but it's going to be more difficult since Obama already played the greatest hits during his campaign, and we saw how that turned out. I guess we can hope that Republicans become even more insane (less hope and more expect, really) in the following years, but Romney proved that voting for the lesser of two evils isn't a sure bet.

She abandoned them to go to whatever the hell it is that Sarah Palin does.

Alaska has resented her for it since the day she quit (and probably a little before).

Alaska would not ever vote for her. And it shows.

While it's probably a pipe dream because of a fear that Americans wouldn't vote for two women, but I'd love to see a Clinton/Warren ticket.  Hillary handling foreign affairs and social policy issues while Warren is the point on economic issues could be an amazing thing.  The Republicans wouldn't know what to do, as Warren's anti-big business crusading would win over the Tea Party to a degree and undercut the leadership.

Republicans are beating Hillary in Alaska? You could run a Republican zebra-striped llama against any Democrat in the red states, and the zebra-striped llama would win. Fortunately the blue states have more electoral votes, but not by much so a zebra-striped llama presidency is not impossible. I mean, once you start letting a black man in, next they'll be asking to marry their turtle.

I don't know about that. I like Warren, but I think she got her start in politics a little too late to be president. I think she'll do just fine in the Senate for a while. Hillary has more connections (i.e. Blackmail) to get things done in Washington. We tried the hope and change thing, we got no change, and I have no hope. I think Hillary would be a more effective president. Between Carter and Obama I think it is conclusively proven that in order to get things done as president, you have to be an asshole/jackass. Nice guys finish last and all that.

Correct. > be 2007

> say any impeachment is off the table in spite of very real war crimes in Iraq and getting us into Iraq
> say no possibility of ANY investigation of Iraq because you want to pass legislation

Hillary's myth of inevitability will be her undoing.

Today's electorate has been too manipulated for novelty and sensationalism to accept a Reagan - Bush style succession.

Politicians have become more like characters in a drama and people will be bored with Hillary.

Indeed... She's everything the Teabaggers hate - an intelligent, progressive woman, who speaks her mind and uses these strange things called "facts" when making her points. She's also not an unhinged hypocrite, so that pretty much makes her unfit for the Tea Party.
