It's not that nature wants to destroy the species, it just doesn't care.

I've got sugar ants farming aphids on my cabbages.

They chase off the lady bugs :(

I do see lots of exploded aphids though from parasitic wasp eggs hatching and eating the aphids from inside out...

In all fairness, one could accuse Hershey and Nestle of the same thing.  That brown corn syrup wax they sell is proof that chocolate is practically extinct in the candy aisle.

This, and the lack of comments and actual interest in the thread reinforce what the scientists in TFA are concerned about. I mean come on, who cares about plant diseases? Ain't no plants in my Big Mac.

Fark nature in the balls. She's pretty to look at, but she'll have you dead faster than you can blink just for the hell of it.

I've never had to depend on my farming skills to feed my family, but keeping a simple garden of potted plants alive, healthy and fruiting is just soooo farking hard! Shiat isn't just throwing a seed into the ground and waiting for it to grow, it's a constant battle with anything and everything else that wants to eat your plants. Caterpillars, aphids, mildew, birds, squirrels... not to mention the work that goes in composting and fertilizing, trimming and watering. I've tried organic sprays and used organic compost and non-GM plants. They died or were eaten so quickly I gave up and switched to non-organic  and chemical sprays.

Fark all the hippies wanting us to go back to all-organic farming. That  only worked to a point before mass crop failure and starvation lead people to develop chemical sprays, genetically modified crops and inorganic fertilizer.

Of course I would like to see new developments and regulations to be implemented to help reduce the chemicals and lead to healthier food. But at the end of the day, I'd rather die of cancer than die of starvation.

/Hate me all you want Hippies and GMO haters. I don't give a fark.

Corn syrup (nor wax...) is not an ingredient in either.

Yeah! Stupid hippies!!

But seriously, you have a bad attitude and your plants know it. It's physics. That's why you have to use chemical sprays so they'll grow. They're depressed because you're such a sad, sad Sammy.

There will be more crying when something destroys the corn monoculture, like a resistant corn borer. Or if a wheat rust hits the US hard.

just go gluten-free

That works fine, if you're not a wheat farmer.

if one is so absolutely distressed about humanity's effects shouldn't they remove themselves? And if they aren't willing to because they place an intangible value on themselves, then isn't the complaint hypocritical?

Man has always had dominion over all creatures on Earth, but nature doesn't give a fark about man and does not distinguish us from insects when unleashing her power.

Damn, boy - you done gave the techie-asperger's crowd one helluva case o'butthurt this morning.
Attempting to induce self-awareness in those of my fellow apes who have convinced themselves that we are somehow special, delux apes of some sort is a thankless, difficult job that does not benefit me in any way. So I don't do it, and recommend that you refrain from it as well.
