The list specifically excludes non-prescription sunglasses, so I assume prescription glasses (clear or sun) are included. A trip to the Costco optical department is now on my agenda for Saturday.

Grave_Girl: PsiChick: ReapTheChaos: Lingerie covers any undergarments, bras, panties, slips, camisoles etc. I swear, all the interesting articles that get submitted, and this is the kind of stupid shiat that gets greenlit.

Corsets, stockings, and garters. Not bras. Sex costumes. Because I came into the thread thinking 'oh, they mean bras, well  duh, bras are farking expensive and yes, teenagers need them', but nope, it's purely sex costumes. Unless they plan on running the raciest drama club ever, what the fark.

/Bras are farking expensive, they should be given tax breaks.

The PDF does say "This list is not all-inclusive.  Other items meeting the definition of clothing may be purchased exempt of the tax."  Clothing is defined as "any article of wearing apparel and typical footwear intended to be worn on or about the human body."  Given that, I am reasonably certain bras are included.

Ah. Fair enough.

AngryJailhouseFistfark: Not when your maximum price on individual items is $20 for supplies and $100 for clothing. Or are you buying all the base components for your computer separately and assembling it at home?

I'm not buying it, and I'm talking about Tennessee's tax free weekend not Virginia.  The point is just that some people wait to make a lot of purchases during that weekend, not hey internet people pick this statement apart.

Eh, no worries.  It's not exactly a clear document; for some reason they put baby bibs twice.

Ahh, yes, well that makes some sense. I was thinking of the article cited and the Fark headline which states "Virginia", so I was going on those rules and guidelines and What Nots.

The Tennessee Tax Free gig waives tax on the purchase of computers? Sweet, that can add up.

That's not nearly as bad as watching a mother daughter team strip on webcam and the daughter masturbate her self to orgasm

Corsets can actually be used for chronic back pain. I have arthritis in my spine, and had a corset made to help with the pain. It cost an arseload of money, but it was tax deductable as a medical device. Maybe that's what they mean.

Hopefully that's what they mean.

albatros183: kwame: Big deal.  High school girls need bras.

Pocket Ninja: I've never understood people getting excited about "tax holidays." Sales tax in Virginia is like 6 percent. Most people wouldn't even look twice at a sign advertising a 6 percent sale.

It's about 9% here.  I know people who wait for these weekends and end up saving as much as $200.  The timing right before the school year is just right.

Wait people spend 2200$ on school supplies?

/Oh right iThing

You should see a school supplies list these days.  With budget cuts schools basically supply nothing but chairs and desks, maybe a teacher here and there.
