Heinlein's flying roadables are finally being shown.  Cool.

Ok, but does it fold up into a suitcase?

That is not a flying car, it is a street legal plane.

Yeah, about that...

/tl;dr - four years (and counting) behind production schedule, and it's cheaper just to buy a Cessna 172

Meanwhile, 39 years ago.....and it's a Matador.  So *that's* a Matador....?

We don't want a plane you can drive, we want a car that can fly.

A potentially much cooler VTOL car potentially coming from potentially the same company:

can just imagine driving down the highway in one of these then a cop pulls out to pull you over for a ticket.
a push of the button as the wings slowly lower then the look on the cops face as you leave the ground :)

Those are some awfully stubby wings. Wonder what the stall speed is on that thing? (There's a reason why convertaplanes never caught on).

Suppose someone actually made a genuine, honest-to-goodness flying car...not the same old "airplane with removable/foldable wings" bullshiat that we've been exposed to since the 60's, but something along the lines of the hovercar conversion from Back To The Future. Now look at the telephone-using, hamburger-eating, makeup-applying morons that currently make up the driving public at large. Left, right, forward, and back are hard enough for most of 'em. Do you REALLY want to add "up and down" into that mix? I can see frickin' SUVs dropping out of the skies...

Lord Schtupp: Ok, but does it fold up into a suitcase?

Came for this. Leaving with post coital glow.

Can't you see you're not making automobiles any better, you're just making aviation worse?

Lousy plane, worse car.

Get in a minor fender and it's a $150,000 bill AND it'll STILL never be airworthy.

Didn't we have those in the '60s? Along with the Amphicar?

And then the look on your face when they're waiting for you on the ground, because a flying car ain't that hard to find.

And then the cop radios in to the National Guard station that dispatches fighter aircraft who force you to land where you are promptly arrested. Later the FAA hands you down a huge fine for failure to file a flight plan among other infractions you will be fined for. Yeah I thought of that fantasy too then I did my homework and found out the government had thought about it too.
