gremlin1: As I was walking into the kitchen I had my arms stretched overhead for a really good stretch when suddenly I sneezed, quite hard. I threw my back out when I sneezed.
Standing is okay, sitting is okay. Moving from standing to sitting or back is not okay.
Muscle relaxers are good and so are painkillers and my recliner is wonderful right now. Gremie thinks it's great that I'm sitting with my feet up this early in the day.

What cracks me up even more is people who take them seriously. For reals, man? REALLY? Hahahaha! Music - serious business. The rest of it - just a bunch of fun for most of 'em, and Immortal is definitely the granddaddy of that type of cheesy kvlt. That's part of the point so many miss. Dunno why. I think that holds true with any type of music, really - just without the grim and kvlt part.

My boyfriend and I had another talk about getting a kitteh (or two), though the decision wasn't made. Felt good to talk about it since I was kinda keepin it to myself. We both really want cats but aren't sure the time is right yet.

Haven't heard back about starting work and I'm a bit frustrated. Shouldn't have to harass the city about my start date! I'm planning to call again on Monday for news.

Here is a picture of Henry that my mom sent me this week. In her emails to friends she talks about me eventually taking one of the dogs when she and my dad retire. It'd be hard to pick just one, as they're all my kin and I love them in different ways. Retirement for them is still a few years away, though, so no decisions need to be made anytime soon.

Type at ft of pg 10 after reading at ft of pg 10, Wenchmaster saying he thinks the "cute little critter" RealWomen posted that landed at ft of pg 9 may be a stoat. Am reminded of the kids' critter tales told by "Uncle Bill" & carried on British Forces Radio in W Berlin.  We listened because we could!  As I recall sorta, the badgers were the good guys, & stoats & weasels the bad guys.

Norwegian prisons are nicer than some of the apartments I've lived in, so I'm going to go with "he was deceptively hot when we were all youngsters". heh. I do hope he got the help he needed though. Apparently he had some mental health issues in there as contributing factors. Heh, recent Varg pictures are quite funny, especially the ones in which he's laughing and wearing near-neon colors. I remember feeling shocked to learn that the max prison time in Norway is about 20 years, even for murder. Not so cool with that aspect of his history, though I did visit Fantoft awhile back when I had the opportunity to visit your beautiful homeland.

I haven't listened to his music from prison or post-prison. Maybe just one song and I don't think I was impressed by it.  Did you hear about Varg and his wife's arrests in France a couple weeks ago? She bought some guns and the police thought they might be hatching a terrorist plot. While you do get the impression he favors his culture and heritage, he doesn't condone terrorism such as that evil Norwegian guy who shot all those kids. Anyway, the French police ended up releasing them after not finding any evidence.

Last, but certainly not least, a BIG thank you for TF. *big hugs*

Here's a cat to cheer us up after all this prison talk.

Yes, it's quite a long haul. Was quite lucky that I had a companion when I made the move/drive from TX to CA.

I will take as many doggies as my guy lets me have as long as we have a decent backyard. So far we've only lived in apartments.

I also wanted to commend you, tigerose, on your excellent sewing/crafting skills. I got my hands on a sewing machine a couple of years ago and only started to learn to use it.. and then life intervened. I left it back in TX and wish I had brought it along. I was not brought up in a sewing environment, but it's always interested me.

lilyspad: Snuffybud: I just watched the linked video and I'm wondering about the head rubbing behavior that they described. Yes, I know it deposits a cat's scents on you but Snuffycat has a different use for it. Besides the scent depositing it's a "hey you, pay attention and follow me" behavior. It really comes into play if I'm sitting at the kitchen table and he wants to go out. He'll head butt my leg going away from the door then turn around and hit me again headed towards the door. If I ignore him he'll do it again and again until stupid me realizes he wants something. That something is about 95%
"let me out dad", occasionally it's "follow me to the bedroom and scratch me until I decide to bite you". I'd rather have Snuffers get my attention this way, Desi does it by reaching up and slowly sinking his claws into my leg!

Surprise! The neighbors haven't changed their router password, we have a connection! It's very slow, but it's a connection!

Tupper Lake, in the heart of the Adirondacks, is Mrs Snuffybud's hometown, we're up here visiting her family and checking the condition of her mother's house. So here are some pictures!

The view at one of our favorite restaurants, Nonna Fina's in Saranac Lake. If it were clearer you could see the mountains better.

"Butt Wiggle of Death"!

Yup...and for a bit more kitteh ethology, I've noticed the Kitteh Butt Wiggle of DeathTM DOES tend to be exaggerated when kitties are playing (either with each other or with a toy) versus, say, when actively hunting something For Reals.

And if someone had told me that a Caturday link would be basically Cat Ethology 101--as presented by the Daily Fail, no less!--I'd have probably accused the person of pulling my leg :D  And remarkably, they DID pretty much get Basic Kitteh Ethology right (right down to the "Ohgod I must make you smell like us again!" bits--the kittehs tend to be rather more demonstrative about Claiming GPD For Cat when I've just gotten out of the shower).

The one bit of cat ethology I wish I could figure out (and keep in mind whilst I've had informal self-education in cat ethology, the closest I've had to a formal ethology course was a weekender course involving wolves and other wild canids) is some interesting behaviour one of the local ferals has started.  Our "neighbourhood cat that has a habit of crashing on our porch", Meowy Cat (so named as he tends to serenade the local cats in the neighbourhood at all hours) has started the habit of regularly leaving dead moles on our doorstep.

I've heard of this behaviour with domesticated cats, but Meowy is definitely a feral (no forever home that we can tell, tends to run off if you get TOO close even after giving the Universal Kitty Blinkies Greeting--the Universal Kitty Blinkies Greeting is enough to keep him on the porch if I'm on the carport, and he's figured out we won't run him off with a vengeance, but he usually spooks if one comes closer than about ten feet away).  Would presume he's trying to woo/recruit our two kittehs, but both the kittehs in question are spayed and indoor-only and he'd only be really aware of them when one or the other peeps out the window.  I do appreciate his hard work as an Outdoor Neighbourhood Working Cat in keeping the local mole population down, but I do wish I knew what was going on in his head in his decision to gift us with disemboweled moles now and again; for all I know, maybe this is his way of claiming the house for cat :D
