wtf, seriously?

2013-08-01 05:09:14 PM
The question has to be asked: Did Glenn Beck violently rape and murder Reza Aslan back in 1990? And why won't he let George Soros investigate this, allegedly, heinous crime if he has nothing to hide?

From a purely critical view point, you've got to admire Becks ability to sway viewers using basic words and drawings.  It's like watching an evangelist at work.  There's a lot of people that really bite into this stuff because of his ability to make complex situations appear to simple.  Of course, you have to disregard common sense and intelligence, et al... But still.... you've got to admire his abilities.

Yeah, or you could just accept that he's exposed Aslan's hidden motive. Did you know that George Soros owns a wardrobe company? Hillary Clinton is a shareholder in that same company. Do you need a diagram? You got all three there. Glenn Beck said something on his show
which gets archived on BuzzFeed
which gets posted on Fark
who also posts links to MSNBC
whose politics lean to the left
just like George Soros.

But it goes deeper.

Glenn Beck sells gold, because speculation shows gold will only increase in value.
You know who else used to speculate currency? George Soros.

But wait. There's more.

Glenn Beck
Engineers and
Orchestrates
Rhetoric against
George Soros
Every day.
Systematically
Obliterating credibility
Reaching new lows for cable TV
Obfuscating his real motives in a
Self-serving fashion

What does that spell, America? Now let me ask you who the real enemy is.

All this rabbi talk...

A rabbi and a priest are driving in opposite directions on a lonely country road and they have a terrible accident. The two climb out of the wreckage of their cars and the rabbi says "Look Father, a miracle! Here we've had this terrible crash and neither of us has as much as a scratch on him."

"You're right, Rabbi, its is a miracle."

The rabbi says "You know, God must have wanted us to meet and that's why we had this crash."

"You're right," says the priest. "It's the only explanation."

The rabbi says "And look, Father, another miracle! I had a bottle of Manischewitz wine in my car and it isn't even cracked. Let's drink to our new friendship."

The priest says "After a terrible crash like that I could use a good stiff drink." He takes a long pull off the bottle and hands it to the rabbi. "Now you drink to our friendship, Rabbi."

"No-o-o-o," says the rabbi. "I think I'll wait until after the police arrive."

Please - you cannot compare Glenn Beck to PT Barnum.

By the time you walked through Ringling Brothers, PT would have separated you from your money.  But in exchange, you'd have a fun time looking at trapeze artists, elephants, and the bearded lady.

What they haven't mentioned is that Aslan did a book reading in Portland where he dropped a little joke into proceedings:

The crowd in Powell's was rapt - when it wasn't doubled over in laughter. Aslan's only reference to Fox News interview was in a discussion about Pontius Pilate, that guy who authorized Jesus's crucifixion, and in making the point that Pilate was actually yanked from his post as governor of Jerusalem by the Romans for executing too many dissident Jews.

"It's like when Fox News fired Glenn Beck," Aslan said. "'You are too crazy for us.'"

Righties hate rich liberals because they affront their narrative of reality. In their reality, liberals are lazy, nonproductive, and poor. Rich, productive liberals are, to a rightie, like a black hole to a Descartian physicist (if they existed any more).
Something that violates the laws of God and Nature merely by existing.
And the fact that rich, productive, hardworking liberals are all around them really pisses them off, since it invalidates their deluded reality script.

I always thought Soros was an evil man because of what he does to countries...albeit legally.

He crushes currencies that cause massive hardship on the countries whose currencies hes shorting.

Plus his recollections of his childhood as a helper to the Nazis and saying he enjoyed that work turned people off as well.

Beck loves Penn. Penn appears to like Beck. I guess Penn's a libertarian. I think he's well-liked here, but to me he always comes off as a jerk and a blowhard who's not nearly as smart as he thinks. He expresses his opinions forcefully, and that can be easy to mistake for credibility. Whenever I've heard him talk about anything, I mostly just hear swearing and ridicule.

IMO, he and Beck are a perfect fit. (Yes, I realize Beck doesn't swear.)

he's a huckster. a snake-oil salesman. a modern-day pt barnum.

He's a ghost, he's a god, he's a man, he's a guru.

That's even funnier considering the Christian interpretation of those stories.

Therefore, Aslan is Jesus, The Muslim Brotherhood is president, and Sharia Law replaces the Constitution. Mind blown, Foxtards!

So, I've been reading this book. So far, I haven't read anything that hasn't been already covered in countless other books about the historical Jesus so I don't see what all the fuss is about....OH WAIT! IS IT 'COS HE IS A BROWN MAN WITH A FUNNY NAME?

Fuggin Bizzy: FlashHarry: wtf is penn doing on that show?

Beck loves Penn. Penn appears to like Beck. I guess Penn's a libertarian. I think he's well-liked here, but to me he always comes off as a jerk and a blowhard who's not nearly as smart as he thinks. He expresses his opinions forcefully, and that can be easy to mistake for credibility. Whenever I've heard him talk about anything, I mostly just hear swearing and ridicule.

All true.  Penn is more intelligent than the average celebrity, but that isn't saying much.

Yeah, or you could just accept that he's exposed Aslan's hidden motive. Did you know that George Soros owns a wardrobe company? Hillary Clinton is a shareholder in that same company. Do you need a diagram? You got all three there. Add that to the shapeshifting SS guy guarding Obama ages ago, and the countless UFO's that keep an eye on us for the NSA and you begin to unravel the truth. Resa Aslan is lying. Or a lion. Therefore Islam is bad and should be expunged from the Earth.

I don't think I could be clearer than that.

But isn't God a Lion?

Yeah this is all pretty silly, but I did actually hear Beck biatching about Alsan on his radio show yesterday morning (not a regular thing but I do turn to right wing radio occasionally on the morning drive to wake me up with anger) and he mentioned Reza's tweeting.  And honestly the guy does really seem like a douche on his twitter account.

Now people can certainly be douches and smart and right all at the same time, but it does make me reconsider wanting to buy his book.

Why? Does reading his tweets change the content of the book?

I don't see anything particularly bad there. The worst one was the first one, and I have no idea what he's responding to. It might not even be that douchey in context.

Really?  Do I have to?  Cause here I was thinking it was really easy when you're willing to lie shamelessly.

It's not easy. It really isn't. Lots and lots of people are willing to lie to your face. Beck has learned to make a ton of money from it, and that's an unusual skill.

Aristocles: Soros is just a rich dude who's a farking idiot when it comes to politics.

Spoken like a true anti-intellectual. Aslan is a brilliant scholar of religious history. He's the kind of scholar I wanted to be when I was doing my grad work in Comparative Mythology. Perhaps you would like to provide some actual argument against his scholarship? Refute his work with scholarship of your own?

Zealot is a great book. Yes, he is creating a "biography" with few sources that mention anything remotely related to Jesus. However, he is creating a biography of what someone like Jesus would have been like drawing from what we know about the time and place and the religions extant. For those things we have a great many sources. If there is any charge against Aslan's hypothesis it is that he should not have sub-titled the book "The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth". People are being misled into thinking it's a real biography rather than a construct assembled from equal parts history and reason. This is regrettable, but it does not negate his scholarship, his research or his hypothesis.
