An irrelevant player to an irrelevant franchise.

Smart move for a team that couldn't find the back of the net if they were trapped in one.

Better than last year's AK27 signing.  Besides, he'll most likely be as productive as Weiss pretended to be (if not more productive), and for a hell of a lot cheaper.

It'll be good having a veteran presence in the locker room that is not injured all the time. Maybe it'll light a fire under some of the slackers on the team, i.e. Bergenheim, 'Steeger, Flash, Kopecky.

As long as the Cats stay away from Tim Thomas, I'll be happy.

Weiss was barely a 20 goal scorer with Florida. Oftentimes, he would just glide around the ice, and not hustle back on defense (his defense makes Filip "The Cone" Kuba look like a defensive force to be reckoned with). He never made his linemates any better. He was at-best a bottom 6 playing on the first line in Florida (though no fault of his own). As a fan, he frustrated the living hell out of me.

While I would have liked to see him retire here in Sunrise, I was not sorry to see him go. There is no way Weiss is worth more than Vinny Lecavalier. Florida is better off without #9.

Gomez really went downhill. I can't quite figure out what happened to him.

Wait.  The Panthers actually scored goals to begin with?

That sounds exactly like Gomez.  Except for the barely 20 goal scorer part.  Gomez has 11 goals in his last 157 games played (over 3 seasons)

Capgeek says he is only getting $900K, so it's not like he's a risky investment. Even if he doesn't improve over last year, he's still a 30 point getter for less $ than even an entry level player would make.

Rev.K: An irrelevant player to an irrelevant franchise.

Hey now, the Panthers are relevant.

They give me a chance to see the Bruins live a few times a season in South Florida.

Dreamt last night that the Kitty Cats were moving (yes, I know and respect all the reasons they're not, I also dreamt the Aussie Test cricket team scored 300 with outs to spare, my subconscious comes up with some improbable shiat). I think, if I were a Panthers fan, I'd prefer Quebec to Gomez.

Not really sure how a $900k contract is worth discussion, let alone derision. Yeah, Gomez lost the touch. Florida is a sorry franchise. Maybe they're meant for each other. At any rate, the only way is up for either.

After Gomez left New Jersey, his playing style turned to crap.

Knew who it was before I even clicked it. Enjoying pissing off Devils fans when the Rags signed him. Loathed that contract reaaaalll quick though.

Thanks for the ridiculous trade, Habs. Made it all so much better.

//McDonagh rules!

Wow, he's still playing in the NHL ?
By now one would think he'd be dropped to the AHL or something...
