Despite the fact that Aleppo's society usually adheres to moderate Islamic teachings, rebel-controlled areas of the city have instituted

A fatwa was recently issued on Facebook prohibiting "Muslim women wearing makeup and tight clothes that reveal physical features from going out."

Why do we always back the wrong horse?  Obama needs to sell Assad some nukes, stat.

But really, they're moderate Muslims.  Honest.

FTFADespite the fact that Aleppo's society usually adheres to moderate Islamic teachings, rebel-controlled areas of the city have instituted several strict fatwas (rulings) recently.

A fatwa was recently issued on Facebook prohibiting "Muslim women wearing makeup and tight clothes that reveal physical features from going out."

See how moderate they are?

/It's like the Iran-Iraq war... Can't they both lose?

Dang it, have we been helping the Syrian equivalent to the Tea Party?  I mean, sure, Assad was a bad guy, but there has to have been a better option than this.

I think we're already doing the better option, which is to arm and train them, but not nearly well enough that they could ever win. Good intentions press plus they'll be wiped out eventually and won't be able to use our own weapons against us.

I'm confused.  Is the crescent not the poster child of Islam?  How did it go from being the flag of islam to representing european dominance over islamic nations?

You can't stop progress. Do you want to be on the wrong side of history? New is always better.

croissants are "haram" (forbidden in Islamic law) because their crescent shape celebrates European victory over Muslims

I know, right? I remember how, after defeating the Germans in WWII, Americans were baking swastika-shaped cookies.

Because, you know, everyone promotes the symbols of their enemies, rather than destroying them left and right while cheering.

He ripped the heart right out of that croissant.
