Sure, that's the conventional wisdom but people in the know understand that  real origins of the propeller beanie was in 1911 when Moises Yankelbaum overheard his rabbi say "from your lips to Yaheh's ears" and decided that while the notion was grand, he was tired of shouting.

Inspired, Moises created the propellered "Flight Yamalkah." Of course the original design came with a built in bullhorn and a snack tray but illustrators decided to minimize the details to save on ink.

My thoughts exactly.  Calvin imagining his flights next to 747s while sitting in class are classic.

I'll save you some time: Guy creates first propeller beanie. Some people wear them. Nothing interesting happens. The end.

I know he was only imagining, but flying next to 747s while sitting in class seems preposterous, since the jets couldn't even fit in the classroom, no less fly in there.

HOOTIN ZOOTS!   But how can I see this real 5 inch helicopter blade spin like a cyclone when I walk or run if it's ON MY FARKING HEAD?????  Do these people think that kids where vainly running around with mirrors?

With the right propellor beanie you can get the prop to spin just by walking normally.
