If Im not mistaken its also one of the countries you can apply for citizenship without actually needing to move there.

You have to register as a drug user; you can only buy it in gov't shops and you're limited to 1.4 oz per month.

Yeah, that's making pot "totally legal". Not.

Nearly one and a half ounces a month is a decent amount, really. I haven't had my coffee yet, but that's around 1.5g a day, which would be enough to glue me to my chair forever.

1.4 oz? Is that not much? Being four ninety degree angles, I don't know if that's one joint or something that would last you for weeks.

If you imbide after work everyday and moreso on weekends, one oz should last a month.  Or so I have been told.

More like 2 weeks, maybe 3 if it's really good.  I'm on the all the time when I'm not at work plan.

Some people think 30 packs of cigarettes per month is a good number, some think 60.
Lots of people think 4 is a fine number, and 1.4 oz should last six months.

And that's the thing - it depends on quality, tolerance and use.  If someone smokes first thing in the morning every morning, I would expect less than 2 weeks.

What was that sound? Oh yeah, a million hipsters simultaneously cheering as the read the title and first few paragraphs and then booing when they read the line "foreigners not included", and realizing that there wouldn't be an Amsterdam South. I'm all for legalization. The War on Drugs is an abject failure that's probably cost more than Iraq and Afghanistan combined for little to show except the highest incarceration rates in the world and an increasingly militarized and paranoid police state aborning here.

The best thing about this is that I'll bet is really pisses off the US government.

That may change given time, and the realization of prodigious amounts of revenue possible from a booming tourist trade....especially when others jump on the band wagon.

The wife is from Uruguay, which means I can become a legal resident with astonishing ease, apparently, so... I've got that going for me. Easier than having her become a legal resident of the United States at least. Christ what a hassle.

1 gram of medium quality lasts a week or two for a light user, probably a day or two for full blown potheads.

1.6 ounces = 39 grams. Yes, that is a fark-ton of weed for one person.

what kind of ounces are YOU talking about?  An ounce is 28.349 grams, 1.6 oz is 45 grams and change.  That would work out to about a gram and a half a day.

FTFAC:  A government with sense..? Well that's one then.

Cannabis is less harmful than tobacco, and it's social effect is far less damaging than alcohol, both of which are legal.

Sell it, tax it, fill in that deficit a bit; only people who object are the naive and those brainwashed by generations of politicians slaved to tobacco and alcohol industry lobbyists, who stand to lose a fortune.

Tobacco doesn't make people Sunday drivers every other day of the week.

What does alcohol do? and it's legal. Cannabis actually makes people drive slower and more carefully, is that what you mean by "Sunday driver"?

people who profit from absurdly high incarceration levels and DEA bureaucrats will yell even louder.
people who want to see the young and the non-white blocked from voting will also appreciate the stunningly disproportionate nature of the prosecution efforts.
Ask a prison guard union how long cannabis users should be locked up if you want to see a liquor lobbyist look sane by comparison
