And it looks like C3P0 needs to do some sit ups.

I'd like to know how he dropped his phone into the compacter. I really don't want to lose my phone, I can't be doing silly stuff like trying to open the trash bin door to put trash in while holding my phone. Lay that phone on the ground if you don't have pockets.

I originally read the city name as Palpatine, not Palatine...

Shut them all down!

That would be a strange butt dial

Great. Now I have the images of a similar incident chronicled on 'rotten.com' from a very long time ago...

Some things you can't "un-see" I suppose

I + phone + compaction = iPhone.

2013-08-01 09:07:21 AM
I don't understand what "accident" means these days.

2013-08-01 09:07:25 AM
Well, did they find the phone?

The good news: the Otterbox case warranty pays in case of phone failure due to compaction.
The bad news: pays to his estate.

/not true

Stoeckel called the death "a terrible accident."

Is it really a "terrible accident" if you voluntarily climb into a trash compactor?

I'd like to hear the conversation between the guy and the maintenance person (or whoever) gave him the key to what I'd assume to be an otherwise off-limits area.  Even if the guy promised to "totally not climb into the compactor," he shouldn't have been allowed in there alone.  The building's management might want to talk to some lawyers right about now.

Also, are those things on timers?   Do they turn on when they are nearly full?

If it weren't for my cell phone, I wouldn't have had my little accident.

You bring up very valid points. I expect a follow-up soon with "Woman sues the ever living snot out of building owner for wrongful death" or something along those lines. This is a liability nightmare and I can almost hear the 1-800 lawyer scum lining up at the dinner table now.

Damned skippy they are. Those things wouldn't exist if they weren't needed to avoid deadness and other fatal maladies.

a tragic accident?

When you're that stupid, it's no accident.

she went out with friends, came home angry and drunk, threw his phone into the garbage chute, he got the key and said  "fark you, biatch, I'll find that damn phone."  She followed him, still angry and started the machine after he climbed in.

"Tragic Accident", my foot.

Thought this would be my first green light.  Here's what I submitted:

R2 fails to shut down ALL trash compactors on the detention level. Bonus: in Palpatine, IL

Was he crushed, Col. Pickering?  No, my lady, he was dashed I tell you.

She did this in retaliation for his threat to "leave her flat".
All she did was accommodate him.

A third-party in the story corroborated that he was looking for the phone earlier that evening, but I do like the way you think!
