This is outrageous. How can you dismiss and demean people like that? However true it may be, to call people "vermin" is just degrading and besides it would include the entire city...    What?   Rats? Oh. Never mind.

Most noise complaints in New York are made against churches.

Until Bloomberg and Cuomo are driven from NY there will always be a vermin problem.

I like how they pretend the two values are comperable, when the vermin complains seem to be FIVE TIMES LARGER.

I.e. They cleaned up Manhattan, Screw the Boroughs.

/Seriously, how about some new rent-controlled apartments in Manhattan made available to people with 5 years + in the city and Incomes under $100,000

That map can be renamed  "White New York" or "Black New York"

Transplant all the invasive species of pythons from Florida into New York during spring. The pythons will eat all the rats during summer and then die in the winter.

You're welcome.

I'm surprised Wall street isn't on one of those vermin lists.

In New York, you on average are never more than 5 feet from a rodent at any given time.

Walk out at night when the garbage is out on the UES, you'll see plenty of mice/rats

After a snowstorm, when the garbage piles high, it's rat city

Oh no - Manhattan is not cleaned up. The problem is that the rats moved out of the low lying regions after Sandy hit. Where I grew up in Queens NEVER had rats when I was living there. Now my dad catches one a night in the backyard. The rats are migrating inland.

Ya, the only reason we don't have rats in my part of queens is the cat lady who captures, fixes, and releases cats in our area, and then brings just enough food at sundown to attract both the cats and rats.

/seriously, Never seen a rat here.

So you're saying that the loud parties helps keep the vermin away?

2013-08-01 08:51:28 AM
I get the big roaches that we call water bugs. That makes me cry. My cats are not helpful.

Worked here since 1981, never wanted to live here.

Grumpy Cat:  My cats are not helpful.

I hear you - years of consistent cat food supply makes for some fat and lazy cats.

Maybe a shipment of Amish barn cats is in order.  Those cats can clean out a barn full of mice in a matter of hours.

Doesn't that pretty much equate to public housing? If somebody could make money off of that, they would be.

No.

I lived in a very new building here in Astoria for a few years and there were mice in the walls but it seemed like just a few.  I now live in a pre-war building (also in Astoria) and haven't seen or heard one mouse or rat.  Roaches on the other hand...

Old people, Russians, and Yuppies here in Forest Hills.

Old people, Dominicans, and a small contingent of Hipsters moving in up here in Hamilton Heights.

I live in a balanced area. I didn't realize we had a "rat" problem but it wouldn't surprise me. Some of the landlords here just don't give a fark, their buildings are so damn messed up.

Roaches just happen. I work in building management and roaches are a part of life in NYC. We do our best to control them but it happens. The thing is though being vigilant about them; I spray my apartment every month - its included in the coop fees so why NOT do it? It's also included in the rent for the buildings I manage yet every farking month I have people complaining about bugs. And they act like it isn't their responsibility (it certainly is - its spelled out in their lease and it is INCLUDED in rent but they have to sign up for it every month on a piece of paper next to the elevator) and that it is somehow everyone else's fault they have bugs.

It's NYC, don't be stupid.

I live in 11226, the vermin capital of NYC and leader of total complaints.  YAY!

I haven't had anything worse than roaches in my apartment.  But the West Indian makeup of my neighborhood can result in some late, loud stoop parties.

/never complained
